I hope he didn't get them to turn the rev counter, the labour bill would have be astronomical

on a side note their t/o must be taking a bit of a kicking now that their No. 1 fan is doing a one and a half stretch

That 'orrible with the CGT?

That 964 was re-mapped by Chipwizards, my Saxo VTS was done by them. 8000rpm and 100bhp per ton, did about 40k miles in that, all at the red line, the engine was solid as hell

I was only thinking this weekend that the constant appreciation of the older Porsche market is heading towards making such cars, even with the premium that PS attaches, not only sensible but even relatively affordable.

Like this, apart from t'alloys:

Is the price as you'd expect?

for the CS? considering the miles 'tis a bit steep IMO, one equally as clean with less than half the miles went for a couple of £k more not that long ago

Perfect.
Very nice, think the seller is asking a little too much probably because the car has featured in Octane. Does look immaculate though.

There does seem to be some very reasonably priced kit coming out of Spain at present.

Papa Dolmio must be rubbing himself raw.
... and out of Italy. Everything with more than 250hp is being murdered by tax. We're talking €0000 of road tax per year.

Alert to the fact my Bearding skills are fading fast and now living on the outer reaches of ‘Thread’ if I could ask for some collective wisdom on a crate I’m on the cusp of laying some loot upon.

Since I moved the 26R on I’ve been keeping a keen eye open for a new track weapon, accordingly the thoroughly charming Kerridges’ near to me suggested an Impreza Type 25

Initially I was pretty indignant to a the thought of being the biggest fish in Tesco’s car park late on a Friday night but when you dig a bit deeper you realise these are anything but.

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/2025...

I spoke with Litchfield’s yesterday and apparently this one had even more cabbage spent on it last year and now has about 460 gee gee’s at the engine and has also had a load spent on some very expensive Performance Friction stoppers fitted.

About 25k on the dial, full service with all the right people and under twenty bags, utter madness or still curiously Beard?

£20k does sound a bit steep for that Impreza but I suppose thats the going rate. Definitely an impressive bit of kit and probably about as good as it gets for a trackday car that doesn't leave you're vital organs hanging out the sides.

Some of you may remember that I did a deal on a Clio Trophy last week subject to history and a bit of work being done. As it stands, the previous owner hasn't yet passed this on to the dealership although he tells them there is some but it isn't full. I've left it with the dealer that i'll make a decision when I can see what they've actually got. They are prepared to do any work that it will need too which is good, especially them being a main dealer. However, not having full history on a slightly niche car such as this could be a pain when selling it on so I'm thinking if it is quite a bit less than full I should try and get a discount bearing in mind that lack of history affects the trade value. Oh and yes I know we're only taking a few k, but this is part of my 911 fund!

Interesting perspective. Mine is entirely the opposite.

They Scoobies (and their Lancer foes) are truly exceptional road cars. But they pale into the underwhelming when on track. They seem to be prone to breakdowns when on circuit and don't deliver in either of the two ways cars make snappy circuit progress: they're not fast on the straights like M-cars or Porsches, and they don't dance through corners like the FWD crowd.

Overall, IMO and from watching them on trackdays, they simply don't deliver on track.

Having never been on track myself, your perspective is probably more authoritative!

There are plenty of Imprezas and Lancers that will show M cars a clean pair of heels in a straight line.

But I also wouldn't choose one for a track car.

Welp, I just bagged the last PH camping ticket for Le Mans. Now my only dilemma is HOW to get there.

Either -

1. Hope car is fixed. This is not looking likely. It is certainly not going to be available this weekend, so then will I have it by Thursday morning? Do I risk waiting for it? Garage has been less than commital on this front.

2. Hire a car. Safe, but possibly pricey for a continental jaunt.

3. Travel with a mate of mine who is going, but a day after my crossing and miss the Friday Service (and qualifying). They are also staying in a different campsite, which obviously throws up logistical issues. Even though I have paid for a crossing, this is probably the cheapest option.

4a. Buy a TVR (Chimaera).

4b. Buy a bargain barge.

Aaahhh, decisions.

Option 4b if your car isn't ready very soon. Chimera would be great but you'd want to look at a few / maybe get some work done unless you bought from a dealer.

As far as I understand, most hire car companies charge a decent whack on top if you're leaving the UK in it.
You could try http://www.hertz-transfer.eu/ if anything juicy comes up but then you'll need to make plans to come home and you can only book on the day of travel I think.
