I think, think, that this is ‘JDM’ format because the centre space for a license plate on an import is square’ish’ as opposed to the usual rectangular shape we have; by this I mean the panel between the rear lights.

Sure my MK1 was the same.
You may be right I wasn't quite close enough to be sure but it may have been badged as a Eunos

Has anyone seen the lot list for the upcoming DVLA online timed auction? Surprised many weren’t put in a physical auction.

There’s some lovely plates. I’m tempted by several should the prices be right.
How do you view the lot list for the timed auction?

I’m registered so got a link. But it’s available from the DVLA registrations website.

Agreed, some really good plates there, seems unusual for the online sale...
will be interesting to see what prices are achieved, not sure whether generally they sell for more or less than the live auctions...

This lot would most certainly be in a live auction previously ! Most probably the way they will all be held in future?

If you look on the DVLA auction site, the one that’s run by the auction company, they state it’s an extra auction. It strikes me there are too many auctions nowadays. Some of the plates that are offered in the traditional auction are getting to be relatively poor quality.

Good point well made. I saw a Tweet which referred to some sort of ‘bonus’ in this sale. I cannot recall seeing plates in the online timed auction with £2.5k reserves before.

There are many I’ll be watching with interest.

The tender for BCA to do the auctions is up for renewal this year, and as such DVLA are currently looking at different ways to maximise what they get back from them. However, DVLA have said that they expect live auctions to still feature heavily in their calendar in the future - I think there will probably be a mixture of live and timed.
The "reserves" in the timed auction are once again unrealistic - they are not reserves but starting bids - most won't go anywhere near those prices!

Off Topic - I'm having breakfast at Watford Gap Services looking out at the cars in the car park. There is a Luxembourg registered Mazda with a plate that could be an old UK plate - two letters, four numbers - and it occurs to me there are probably people with homes in two countries with cars with the same registration number. Not to show off, just for amusement. Because they can.
