have to laugh at all the comment's about new and careless drivers coming from computer ganmes when it was the ring taxi driver who fked up the most...he's probably been around 10 times that of any of the drivers on here...it's a dangerous place, the faster you go the more dangerous it is regardless of talent.
+1 "familiarity breeds complacency"

There could be a bit more advice / briefing before you go on, but then it is s toll road, so you sort of have to accept that is the nature of the beast. And it is a beast.
I also so several vans, a Dacia Sandero giving it some at various points.
I was there Sunday and Monday.
It was dry in places and VERY slippy in others. Its apparently well known that the tree covered areas are very slippy when wet. It takes less than you might imagine to loose traction. And not necessarily the fault of people trying to be heros people at all levels of experience can get caught out. It is simply a dangerous place and even very small errors can result in big accidents. When its busy its the pile ups which make it horrific.
Its probably worth noting that several of the accidents happened in the same place between Bergwerk and Kesselchen 1. The latter is the bottom of the long hill which leads up to the right handers before the first carousel. It was very wet and tree lined which makes it slippy anyway, plus vairous accidents on the Saturday - Monday mean there is oil left on the road.
On a track day, likely hood is you'd end up in a sand trap, the flags would be out and disaster avoided.

Why are we surprised when we meet one who we think that we could get along with?
I have a copy of the French video, which will disappear as soon as the Nurburgring start threatening him; but I was too slow with the others, unfortunately.
What can they theraten him with? He has VITAL evidence of what happened and they should be thanking him for it.I have a copy of the French video, which will disappear as soon as the Nurburgring start threatening him; but I was too slow with the others, unfortunately.
Everyone seemed to have slowed and the taxi just barrelled off one car into another! Its there to see in the vid.

Wel, they seem to have some sort of rights to vid unless filming was authorized. This is not the first time they have had vids removed.Everyone seemed to have slowed and the taxi just barrelled off one car into another! Its there to see in the vid.
I was unfortunate enough to witness the Ring Taxi crash at very close hand (about 8feet). As i came over the crest, the Corvette and M3 had stopped just before the crashed white 911. I just managed to brake and move left to avoid them and at that moment the Ring Taxi ploughed into the back of them both and cut across my nose! Looking at the french video, most cars were unable to stop in time and manouevered either side of the 911. Having made an emergency stop myself, i was immediately worried of being hit by other cars from behind but i had no time or space to make the decision to continue around it. Luckily, i didn't as the Ring Taxi would have t-boned me against the barrier and my TVR doesn't have side impact protection bars!
Scary stuff. This was my 8th consecutive annual trip and probably my last. With no marshalls around the circuit, there's no advance warning of impending danger. That's the main problem with Tourist days.
Shame because it's the best driving experience you can imagine (imho).

What a suprise the brit who caused it was in a BMW.
Did he?Edited by KM666 on Monday 3rd October 17:43

Three cars were already slowing for this, when a fourth driver, apparently a Brit failed to spot the slowing cars and was unable to avoid a collision. He then hit the Armco, before coming back onto the track and hitting two more cars.
Which having seen plenty of people driving 3 series beyond their skill set comes as no suprise. Having a UK numberplate I'm guessing thats the offending car.
Gran Turismo 5, Kaz'll be pleased you mistook it for reality though.
No i dont have any cars on the road, but neither does that BMW driver. I owned the transit, though it didnt spend much time driving.
Oooooh seems i've touched a nerve here lets just ignore what the plonker was driving (and that theres a fair few 3 series out there in plonkers hands in dire need of mechanical attention, rust seems to be common, saw a 330d at weekend that had its brake lines replaced as the previous set had rusted through, was told, 'oh all 3 series rust'-re bodywork, if brake lines rusting is a common fault id be very suprised) and hope hes driving a Saxo next time.

Hopefully you won't show as much immature spite and biggotry when commenting in future and you have learned a little bit. Your comments were wholly dispicable and out of order.brushdaft said:
It's quite dramatic- You can hear the "shiiiiiiit!" from inside the car simply by the heavy breathing and absence of conversation!!Seek said:
Lauda crashed at succinctly named Lauda-Links - or as the locals call it - Barbeque Bend.
That's the fast left a few hundred yards before Bergwerk.
The accident above didn't happen at Bergwerk itself but a few corners and several hundred yards after - basically Kesselchen 1.

It seems from reading through peoples experiences at the 'Ring, it's a real gamble with your life.
The kind of person who would drive it at speed is the kind of person who would attend an Ann Summers Party, with Amanda Knox at Michael Barrymore's house thinking "What could possibly go wrong?".
Knox and the 'Ring have one other thing in common, when you first see them you think you'd like to have a quick go, but when you analyze the risks, it is just better to watch videos of others doing it.

Very true. Include Sri Lanka in any list of dangerous drives too.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
