I don't think the cyclist done himself any favours chasing after the car. If one of those vigilante cyclists chased after me Id give him the choice of walking way or hobbling away with the camera rammed up his crevice. Some of these idiots have more cameras than a BBC outside broadcasting unit and I for one would take objection at being filmed without consent.
If you´re in a public place consent isn´t necessary.MrChips said:

I think this sums it up for me, nothing much wrong with it, guy is apologetic, but he feels the need to stop and try to goad him into a confrontation!

May have to give him a blast from the Tuscan exhaust if I see him.

I love how calm the driver remains during the exchange. That turns out to be this wker's kryptonite. I believe he should be sectioned as he's behaviour displays a clear pattern which creates a danger to public safety...
More inconvenience was achieved by him cycling around and discussing the finer points of law enforcement according to Bikeman. Im pretty sure there is a law against vigilantes and a section against individuals being outwardly aggressive at other road users. About time this plonker got his comeuppance legally, before someone feeds the self-righteous-vigilante his camera, with a side order of teeth.Plenty of things to get angry about when driving - i don't stop and debrief the offenders. I generally have more important things to do - like work.
The way to deal with uphillfreewheeler is to repeat everything he says, like children do.
uphillfreewheeler: "You are passing too close".
Clown: "You are passing too close".
uphillfreewheeler: "You are parked in a cycle lane".
Delivery driver: "You are parked in a cycle lane".
uphillfreewheeler: "...a mandatory cycle lane".
Delivery driver: "...a mandatory cycle lane".
Etc.
I'm sure that would be infuriating for him.
BTW I can see this guy going the way of that Audi driver from Bath.

No bks to that, I'm tired of it. He could have stopped, waited for it to be safe, then reversed into the drive way. About 25% of delivery drivers do it at my workplace, so I know it can be done. The rest just can't be arsed.
Besides, it's the general attitude of it I was talking about. I bet he parks causing inconvenience to people all over the place, all day every day.
And you're wrong anyway, it causes both danger inconvenience to cyclists and other drivers, firstly because cyclists now have to change lanes into traffic, and while passing it the cyclists also then run the risk of getting doored by the van driver getting out, secondly because somebody might be trying to leave their driveway behind it but now has their view obscured by a whacking great van on what looks like a fast road.

I'll also add: Where does it end?
In the case of the latest video (the delivery driver in the cycle lane), you get a poster getting uptight and saying "No, bks, I've had enough, he could park in a driveway and not block a cycle lane". So he parks in a driveway and then eventually you'll have motorists or even people who say share a drive or whatever saying "No, bks, I've had enough. He could park on the road/pavement for 2 mins while he delivers"
Then what would happen? Deliveries just stop, then people would moan because they aren't getting thair mail!

That is a valid conclusion - if we agree that it was a poor overtake...
however there seem to be about two people on here saying it was a poor overtake and therefore the cyclist was entitled to do whatever he wanted...
a few more people saying it was a poor overtake, but not unusual
lots of people saying that while it may not be a perfect overtake it is the norm for built up areas, and there was plenty of room in that road for car and bike
a few people saying that the car driver was fine and the cyclist selfish...
so based on that the vast majority seem to accept that actually it was a perfectly normal urban overtake
That's one spin to your summary. But if you look at your summary in detail, only a few thought that the overtake was fine, even though it represented the norm. And that's the problem. There are a lot of regular urban overtakes that are not fine. This is what breeds people like the helmet cam man. People like him breed on poor driving - let's not confuse the symptom with the disease.however there seem to be about two people on here saying it was a poor overtake and therefore the cyclist was entitled to do whatever he wanted...

If you´re in a public place consent isn´t necessary.generally not - but it depends on the intent, and if there is any commercial intent or use then consent is required...
this video has had millions of hits - how much money is mr cyclist making from his youtube channel - there is a clear interpretation here that this is a channel which makes money, therefore it can be seen as commercial - therefore he is probably in breach of lots of things mr car driver could probably sue him for a share of the profits - now that would be a fun twist to this!

which is why I didn't say it was a good overtake - but that it was the norm, like it or not, the norm in cities is far from ideal - but that is life as we know it as such one cyclist being an idiot telling everyone off is not going to change the norm - to do that you need to radically change road widths / parking regulations / cars allowed in the city / etc.
Why not just change peoples attitudes? (not going to happen I know)Pretty much every dodgy overtake I've had happen to me has gained the driver nothing, maybe they've been able to re-join the queue of traffic they will be inevitably stuck in a few seconds sooner or they get home 10 seconds quicker.
What's the point? Why not just hang back for a few seconds until its perfectly safe to get past?
If you can't understand this very simple concept you're either very stupid or crap at driving. Fat man in the 405 is a demonstration of both.

You do realise most modern cyclists are also motorists, but let's ignore the facts.
I'd go along with that, that's why they are better riders http://youtu.be/zB_rOzjmbv4

Didn't hear him ring his little chrome bell upon approach from behind though
What did cyclists/drivers do pre Go-Pros etc when hunting down a poor fellow driver or cyclist? Write a letter? Send a post card? Or just have a punch up....
I certainly had no training on how to deal with an irrate motorist or cyclist on my cycling proficiency test back in 1972.
Oh. Thats because everyone just got on with things....
I feel bad as we have not included how motorcyclists react to a poorly driven car manoeuvre....
How about whipping out an angle grinder from your pillion seat storage and cutting off a wing mirror and grinding some paint away?
Really.

I think this country needs an attitude adjustment.
The cyclist here is a mong, no doubt, but the underlying point is totally bang on.
Why is it okay to park on the pavement to make it easy for cars to pass at the expense of pedestrians? Why is it okay to block the solid-white-lined cycle lane instead of the driveway of the house you are delivering to?
It's because Mr Important here is in a van which is more important than anybody else. And it's not just vans either. Entire roads down here where the pavements are chock full of cars, junction visibility is blocked by people parked right on the corner, etc. "Well I couldn't get parked" they say. Tough titties, buy a better house, or park somewhere else and walk then you selfish lazy blob of kenneth.
Much like littering it seems it's an acceptable crime now. Not enforced by anyone, and the great unwashed don't give a crap anyway.

Delivery guy will be parked there for 5 minutes tops and cycling around the van on that road causes absolutely zero inconvenience to a cyclist. Whereas pulling into someone's driveway and then reversing out onto a main road is a massive pain in the arse and potentially far more dangerous.
Besides, it's the general attitude of it I was talking about. I bet he parks causing inconvenience to people all over the place, all day every day.

I see a delivery driver trying to get on with his day/job/life and a cyclist trying to cause aggravation and hassle for everybody around him. I'd feel a little bit sorry for him if he wan't so annoying, looking for confrontation like he does is not normal behavior.
This may have been linked on here already, it came up on the side of one of the other vids.

Here he is being tailgated, so he decides to block the entire line of traffic from going anywhere and forgets how to talk properly.
