So you don’t have an alternative then.

I don’t get beeped a lot myself, so it bothers me very little.
My alternative is to use the horn as intended or do something that helps. As it happens I don't think I have ever been beeped in a personal car. Happened occasionally back when I was driving a covert vehicle, when people wanted let me know that I was going through a red light or turning where they didn't think I should. The unwanted attention it brought is another good reason it's illegal.

The couple towing the caravan in the middle of Bristol earlier today. To start with they tried getting their 7ft wide caravan through a 6ft width restrictor over a narrow one way bridge. Luckily they stopped before doing any damage, although I'm not sure why edging slowly up to the width restrictors was ever going to work. Surely, you'd know how wide your caravan was ? Then, they couldn't actually reverse the caravan, so they unhitched it and using the worlds slowest electric motor, tried manoevering it very badly out of the way. While the chap was doing that, his wife eventually realised she should move their car, that was still blocking the road. It was then obvious that she couldn't actually reverse the car either. After a while, she managed to move the car to one side enough for me to get past, as by then I was getting a bit bored and the queue behind was building up. I will be back down there later today and I fully expect to see them still there laugh

Well, the next time you have nothing constructive or useful to add. Don’t bother posting.

Otherwise, I will continue to consider you as someone who cannot help telling other people what to do,.

Friday evening on the north bound m11 at the Stansted Airport junction.
Its 4 lanes with 2 for the m11 and 2 exit lanes.
The traffic had just managed to get up to about 60 mph after crawling from London at about 35/40.
A silver mini cab was in lane 2 doing the same speed as everyone else.
He then did an emergency stop and ended up stationary in land 3.
I had to do an emergency stop as did the rest of lane 3, lane 4 was too busy to use.
The mini cab then shot left to lane 1 causing lane 1 and 2 to take avoiding action as well.
He was very lucky not to cause a large accident..

One tonight in Norwich old diesel bmw x5 boots through a set of red lights half way through the sequence lucky thr cars turning right were slow off the mark

Me
I hit a parked car today, never done that before.

My car is worse than the picture shows, the victim isn't as bad as the picture looks. Ps I did leave my details, the other car was a little tatty so he seemed happy to see if it polished out and wants to avoid insurance.

What a silly waste of all your times. Don't understand how you could be so offended, you'd go to so much trouble?

If someone short-changes you in a shop do you key their car and plant kiddy porn on their computer before grassing them up to Yewtree?
Always works for me.

The Golf 'R' that came flying down the back-road as we were walking up to our allotment this evening to feed the chicks. bouncing over the speed humps, bouncing off the rev limiter. Some teen in the passenger seat arm leaning out of the window, thinking he looked as cool as Paul Walker in the Fast & Furious. Topped it all off by lobbing some litter out of the window as he drove off into the distance, to make some more of the local girls wet with lust.

I say Golf R, it was a Diesel, in Doom Blue, with a Golf R badge and 4 tailpipe ends. If I see it parked up I'll get a picture for the misbadging cars thread.

On that topic. A while ago I mentioned how I turned a neighbors X5M (X5 diesel with a Halfords "M" badge) into an MX5 and he didn't notice.

Almost ten years later...

...it was at my local generic supermarket still intact. hehe

That takes me back to many many years ago when I lived in Bristol, and having just passed our tests the aim of my friends and I was to see how fast you could go through that narrowing. Probably made me a knob at the time...

If you are really old, the flyover by Temple Meads was where you tested your driving skill.

BMW and Merc have really trashed their halo brands with their M and AMG branding IMO, what legacies to chuck away. Yes, they're both successful brands, but I firmly believe they have the expertise to develop successful sport sub-moniker ranges. Ferrari don't offer a 'Scuderia Line' styling option for lesser models!

Completely agree. 'M' used to be something special. Same with GTI on a Golf, or SRI on hot Vauxhalls.

Now they're just trim levels, trying to make boggo cars look special. If you make everything special, nothing is special.

Doesn't detract from the fact that an actual AMG Merc or M model BMW isn't an impressive car, but when you can have pretty much the same sort of looks from something with a Renault sourced 1.5 diesel.... meh!

The knob is me in this story. Found a large patch of dry bird poo on my bonnet. Was in a rush for work but couldn't stomach the idea of leaving it on all day. Sprayed some crap remover and scraped it off with kitchen tissue before it softened up. Not sure if the scratches I found when I washed the car later that day were caused by it but I have a feeling they were. Lesson learnt!!

The worst offender IMO is Citroen with their VTR's. The Saxo VTR was the hero of the under 25's, it was nippy, shared it's cool looks with the S, was a hoot to drive. They should have tried far harder to hold on to that legacy.

This is now what a VTR is

The reasons / rules for giving a signal are so simple, even a single brain cell amoeba ought to be able to grasp them.
Nevertheless there are still large numbers of drivers who it seems just cannot cope with the combined tasks of driving a vehicle, and giving traffic signals.
If behind a car that has failed to give any signal, I tend to stay as clear of them, as road conditions allow, but if obliged to come alongside them. then I give a short beep of the horn, in an attempt to make sure they know I am there. ( although I accept, that if they are not giving signals they are poor drivers in the first place, and could still be unaware of the traffic around them)
