A 124 at peak VFM! What do you think of his chances of achieving 15 grand? Looks good though.

"Hello, I'm calling to enquire about the car you have for sale. I'm a retired 1980s drug dealer, looking for a new daily..."https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C855974
Its a bitsa. It didn't come with that engine or that interior and it needs ginger. The seats are missing their lower trims. A stone mint original low mileage 124 isn't £15k and nor is that.
I forgot to take a picture of my new acquisition at the petrol station. It needs various electrical glitches attending to, a consequence no doubt of standing for 6 months.

I love 124's but that is horrible. Ruins all the elegance. No mention of mileage. No air con. Stupid price. 15k maybe for an original very low mileage 1 owner well specced 300TE ( which probably doesn't exist as good 124's are getting scarce now) https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C855974

nnnnngggghh. Has anyone driven one of these back to back with a XJR that can summarise the differences? I can't imagine it is just cosmetic?
I’ve owned both. Basically, it depends on the wheelbase and what suspension was spec’d on the Super V8. On the XJR, you can only have sports suspension, on the Super V8 you can have sports or comfort. You can put the VIN into Ford ETIS to check.I had a SWB SV8 with sports suspension, drove exactly the same as my XJR. A LWB SV8 with comfort suspension would be rather more boat like than an XJR.

400bhp on comfort suspension sounds dodgy!!
Sounds terrific to me. Fast car =/= sports car. Soft and fast is ideal for my wants.
6 years ago I paid the same for mine, although at the time it had less than 80,000 miles on the clock.
I still have it, but it doesn't look as tidy as this:

(Although the Walnut trim looks nicer, and the normal armrest without a phone slot makes it feel a little more modern.)

But it runs?!If you get a persistent message about electrical consumers then have a look at the alternator's voltage regulator - I've intermittently been having the same on my 211, and replacing that (£35) has cured all electrical warnings etc. Dead easy to change, only took me an hour including removing the alternator.

I think that's a fair enough price for such a great car.
The gap in 'want' left by the E60 is pulling the later, nicer E39s upwards beyond where they would otherwise be, IMO.
It's a real high-water mark. A masterpiece of balance and justrightness.
I spent a good 550 miles in mine over the weekend, and aside from a little hesitancy under fairly low power application which clears with a bit of right foot, it was flawless. The gap in 'want' left by the E60 is pulling the later, nicer E39s upwards beyond where they would otherwise be, IMO.

The above may be a sign the gearbox is due a fluid change (it is) or the fact it is running on fairly old winters that have seen better days. Both will be seen to in due course.
The ability to sit on cruise at 70 (ish) mph all the way along the M5 is just great. Normally when the Google lady says "Continue on the M5 for 143 miles" you'd probably sigh, but I was fine. It didn't bother me. The pup in the boot just slept all the way.
Great family wagon.

Whereabouts in Sweden are you? We just leased a Volvo XC60 for ridiculously cheap from Bilia. Also, on rust, Jesus Christ Sweden is bad for it! There's a guy on my street with a mk2 (I think) Golf estate and it looks like someone has shot it with a machine gun, it's riddled with holes in the boot and along the sills.
A couple of points re Maison De Palmier - he's not taking as many photos as he used to and the house across the road, upon reflection, is a bit of an eyesore now it's finished.
The worst part (for winter weather that is), 100 miles south of Stockholm near the coast, Norrköping. Too mild to get proper winters that are too cold for the salt to take effect, cars from northern Sweden are generally rust free, yet too far north for the really mild winters that the south has, still cold enough there to drench the roads in salt however.A couple of points re Maison De Palmier - he's not taking as many photos as he used to and the house across the road, upon reflection, is a bit of an eyesore now it's finished.
