I've come so close to buying an RX8 but never quite completed the journey - probably just bottled it.

Be nice to hear how you get on with it.
Update - been using the RX8 for a few weeks now - I've sorted a few problems it came with, nothing serious, 2 tyres, radio screen replacement etc. It always start instantly, hot or cold

I knew they had poor mpg and I knew my usage of mostly short trips wasn't ideal

I like the smooth power and the high rpm, gearbox is good (so many cars aren't) BUT there is a district lack of torque (again I knew there was) but combined with 15mpg it's up for sale, it just isn't special enough for me to justify the fuel cost

I liked my RX8. I got 21 mpg constantly; 21 if I drove like a granny, 21 if I drove like I'd stolen it.

What people usually blame on lack of torque is actually them being in the wrong gear; you have to hustle it.

Thanks for the update - yes 15 mpg is only really acceptable if you have a Bentley or Lamraghiinnii .
My Monaro would average 20 quite easily and nearly do 30 on a long run.

At least you scratched an itch as they say !

If you were getting 20mpg easily then you must’ve been doing some very reserved driving. I’ll get 18 out of the VXR8 on a good tank and 14 if I do a lot of town driving and don’t shy away from the accelerator. Like you though 30mpg on a long run is 100% achievable.

As you got 21 and I'm getting 15 you can probably guess that I hustle it !

It won't pop the back out when leaving junctions nor in second gear when entering side roads - a BMW 325 will as will my supercharged MX5 both have far more torque where you need it

And both have better MPG

I still think it's an interesting car with many good features and is a bargain looking at the 90s Jap alternatives

I didn't think traders could sell 'sold as seen'. Or am I wrong?

I was about to query if it was such a dear car …. Then I looked beyond the first three pics .

Could be a nice thing with a bit of time and money

Sorry, but they were never “nice things”, even factory fresh and tight as a button. Hateful cars.

Good cars those Ibizas, I had a 2.0 GTI one back in the day (the one with the white wheels) and absolutely loved it
Hmmmm. The weekend before my driving test my then boss was working and lent me his car (a somewhat tatty Ibiza) and his wife to accompany me around the carpark so I could practice my parking skills. Rather sheepishly I had to call him after only half an hour as the stupid thing had managed to overheat and break down!

His wife or the car?

It's in Spain however it's only £ 1,800.00 an Easyjet ticket and some petrol and a trailer!

I like the R21, particularly the early cars with the sharper styling before they tried to smooth off the corners.

For comparison, here’s a low-ish mileage UK car (in much tattier condition) on eBay. Bidding is up to £990 with 4 days to go. Interesting to see how high it goes, compared to that LHD Spanish car.

Good plate for an internet warrior!

I have always been a fan of the Monaco cars, particularly the early 25s but they never ever come up for sale. A 5 Monaco did, I offered to buy it for my niece as a first car on the proviso she looked after it and I got it when she bought something else. Sadly she bought a Ford Ka (and not even the original well designed one) and I had nowhere to put it. So that did not happen.

As if by magic
