The weird thing is apart from what I think might be a sticky caliper it didn't drive badly at all (and that could happen on any car especially if not being used much). And the shimmy he encountered, I couldn't elicit. So maybe a bit of a drive has cleared that too. There were no clunks or knocks for the suspension etc and the engine sounded very nice.
It's not impossible that it is a 39K mile car (as all the sequential MOTs plus a host of BMW Maindealer bills give validity to that claim) but one that had been neglected of late.
Then it's been sold by a vendor who sounds like a total tool! Example: When my mate pointed out to him the big scrape on the offside rear wheel-arch that he'd neglected to mention in his "immaculate/mint" description, he apparently held up his excuse as: "Not me, Mate! Previous owner!"
WTF? It's on the f
king car that you're selling?!
What kind of excuse is that? LOL!

A genuine 39k car needs to be far better than the rest of the market - this one sounds like an expensive mess (if it is a 39k car)

I'm eyeing up a W140 S500L 1997 with 66k on the clock at a local dealer. I haven't been to see it yet but the pics looks decent enough. Apparently 2 owners from new with the same one since 2000, full Merc history etc. Dark blue with tan leather. They want £2500 for it - does that seem about right or will there be wiggle room?
Also, anything in particular to look out for on the W140?
Cheers![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

This is the kind of e32 I'd be interested in for £1,495. "BMW 7 SERIES 730i SE 4dr Auto 3.0 ONE PRIVATE OWNER FROM NEW" http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

I really like that on the outside; the e34 needs leather to work for me (like the W124), but then again it's very cheap for such a nice looking car. I'd buy that!E34 530i 6 cylinder in a lovely colour combination

Is it on different sets of wheels in the pictures or is the one posted above just cleaner?

Sounds very much like the car that someone viewed and posted on here that it was actually a dog a couple of weeks or so ago. Does the ad say that the car belonged to his accountant? Also, anything in particular to look out for on the W140?

Slightly weird eh? I assume he was trying to ape the professional ads that put back the passenger seat!

I thought the same, but if that's an accurate description, it's possibly the most flattering set of photos I've ever come across! Thought I'd best mention it though.
When I seen it price was 3 grand. With full T&T it could be worth 1k. Just drive till it breaks. You can see all things I mentioned in photos if you know what you looking for. Just look at steering wheel no way it's only done 66k. More like 250k.As we haven't had a W124 for ages, i.e. a couple of pages, what about a lovely 300TE-24:

That looks fantastic, what a good find. I bet it goes for reasonable money though given the miles. A nice looking house as well!

It may have had lots of work done but the list of suspension parts changed isn't very long either.

Number 2 looks to be missing a service and the radio switching itself off randomly can be an expensive fix. I had that on mine when I had it and it was about £800 to fix. All done under extended warranty. Other than that it does have a good spec. Number 1

They both seem like good value, not enough detail on service history for my liking though but a quick call or email can sort that. I love a cream interior but they really need a black dash top and steering wheel, it's beige overload for me!
Very cheap though, be a shame to think mine is maybe only worth 4k!![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
E65 prices do seem to have held up better than E38 prices, I swear. But maybe they'll drop considerably when the next 7 is out.
