All GT and Brera are disappointing even in S format. B the real prodrive Version is the best but pricey parts, electric issues too as always with alfa

That’s because it’s just a 4 pot!
I don’t mind 4-pot but whilst doing research on youtube these GTV do rust badly (suspension components etc) frown
Suspension arms are consumables on those. The spring pans on the back rust through though it seems the part could've been designed and made differently to make them perhaps less rust prone. The rear axle is a complex set up with many Rose Joints. A solution is to replace them with Polybushes but some opine they then don't drive as nicely as with the OE Rose Joint set up. Polybushes are a fit and forget replacement for the Rose Joints that will need doing again eventually.

The Fiat Coupe has a decent boot and rear seats as it has a simpler rear suspension set up than the GTV 916.

I think the floorpans corroding are a bigger concern than rusty spring pans.

There's a V6 on Autotrader for just over £5K. It seems an Alfa specialist has undersealed it so hopefully underseal hasn't just been applied to hide rust and it seems like the car had the 'blue' option interior with the blue coloured dash moulding and pale blue leather but a previous owner has painted the seats and door card arm rest thing red. It's a Phase 2 one with the electronic throttle cable and not a later CF3 that had cats in the headers and the ECU bolted to the back of the plenum abover the rear cat.

Probably because it is the total antithesis of modern cars. Mechanically simple with just enough kit to make it useful and reasonably peppy engine wrapped in a car that will pretty much do everything that a car needs to do to fit the brief for not a lot of money. Looks quite smart if you ask me.

Yes it works as basic transport but that shouldn't be enough

If I was capable of spanning myself I would love a GTV as cheap daily. Such a pretty car.

I am over 60 but, regardless, that is far more interesting than any SUV. Tempted if it was nearer.

As an ex 20vt owner, I am clearly biased, but I have always found the Fiat more pleasing to the eye. I do like the Alfa but have always found it a little fussy in comparison, somewhat overstyled.

Which to me seems realistic.

Prices of the E46 have gone up.

Spend £3k and you'll get a high mileage, rusty 330i.

The extra £3-3.5k on top of that for a genuine low owner, low mileage car in fantastic condition would to me, be money well spent.

A better car? Measurably so. But a better car to own? I don't think so. Theses old mercs, and I apologise for the cliche, are built like bank vaults. Shame about the colour but I'd have the 190 over the newer bmw any day of the week.
