Car salesmen that don't sell...?
Discussion
My local BMW dealer cold called me today and started selling to me down the phone on a new car he even put in a few "feel/felt/founds" reminded me of my first sales training course.
They have never done that before, they have been spaming me with those silly exclusive event emails and flyers in the post then chasing up via a phone call afterwards, I think times are getting tough in the new car trade..perhaps?

Was it actually a salesman whos name you recognised or was it some sort of attached call centre type thing? They have never done that before, they have been spaming me with those silly exclusive event emails and flyers in the post then chasing up via a phone call afterwards, I think times are getting tough in the new car trade..perhaps?
I dont think its tough times in new car sales, although maybe moving in to quieter months.

Not wishing any bad news on the industry as I rely on my retailers selling well too.

He was calling from the dealership, IIRC August registrations were 6.4% down YOY, they've just never been that proactive before that's all.

Interesting. Maybe just a new tactic by the dealer. Not wishing any bad news on the industry as I rely on my retailers selling well too.

Might be a group thing - we get absolutely battered by Holdcroft with calls, emails, texts and letters. The calls are usually from a 3rd party marketing firm although a couple of times a salesman has called. They're generally on Honda - what a nightmare it must be to be a Honda dealer these days. I wouldn't mind but the service department seem to delight in pissing me off. We've already moved one of the cars on and replaced it with something else.
