my ultimate w124 would be my late dad's, silver over blue cloth poverty spec 300d just for the memories, it doesn't appear on mot history sadly so I guess that too is gone, on a brighter note I've still got the memories
I would bet at least some of it is still being used somewhere in the third world. Most of those were bought or nicked for export in the late 90's to mid 00's. Theft of 123's & 4's became so out of control in London, the police sent warning letters out to all owners and it was on the news a fair bit. A 300D wouldn't have lasted five minutes! Eventually they found their operation yard in Essex - they were chopping hundreds of them in half every month and stuffing them in shipping containers to export from Tilbury. IIRC they reopened again not long after!

On insurance/theft point made, i've paid under £300 for a few years now (4/5) and under £200 for 3/4 years on all of my cars.
Bought a 330i touring and the best quote is £700...!? Insured and spouse, High Wycombe postcode, plenty of NCD.
I can only surmise that it's the area that's done me.

29th I think. 0a will be along to confirm, but it's definitely Duxford.
Will undoubtedly be a really good event.

I'm in Barcelona at the moment and there is a complete lack of interesting barges. The most interesting cars I have seen were a couple of old range rovers.
I sold the 12C and have replaced it with a 12C Spider. As Ferris Bueller would say, if you have the means I really do recommend picking one up. Coupe or Spider they are both beyond brilliant and have a depth of talent and ability that the
Press at the time simply, well, failed to notice.
I did the work on the W124 but held off on the bodywork to the rear. It looks amazing but the car is basically half restored. I will get a pic up tomorrow
The best thing that happened this week car wise was "running out of cars" and my darling wife having to do the school run in the 1979 Porsche 928 manual. "I told you it wasn't that hard to drive darling"
:-)

well if she drove it on the school run the words "she's a keeper" spring to mind Press at the time simply, well, failed to notice.

That's probably not what you meant though, Ian.
I did enjoy this comment: "i'd love having a McLaren so I didn't have to worry about someone denting the w124 in town". Would be great to pitch up at the dealership in a 124 and give that line to the salesman.
I think I recall you did go to the dealer in your 124 actually, barchetta_boy? Awesome stuff. Also doff my cap for the Ferris Bueller quote
