This happened today, wondered what people thoughts are. 30 Road, just about to enter a 20 in my direction, biker was going a lot faster than 30, I'm not great at estimating speed but I think 50+, the camera makes him look slower than he was.
The Picasso coming the other way as the video starts was probably 30 to give a comparison.

The camera picks him up between the trees, but this was my blindspot, so I saw him as I just as I had began passing the Astra, straight away could see he was flying, so decided it was safer to accelerate (I was in a Corsa, that was flooring it) than stop and reverse. Almost clipped the Peugeot coming back in, and he came very close to my car.

Proper shook me up, probably shook him up more. The rider looked like a little chav rather than proper biker. I've seen this bike speeding on this road a few weeks back

Good guess hehe

53 mph give or take, took him around 1 sec to cover 24 meters

You did nothing wrong there, he was going far too quickly so there was certainly no time for you to do anything but try and get past the Corsa and back over to your side.

I change my mind, I'm great at estimating speed. biggrin

Quite unpleasant watching it back, thinking that if I didn't accelerate as hard as I did or didn't cut back in as quickly, it probably would have been a (almost certainly fatal) head on collision. Hopefully this incident slows the biker down, I think anyone treating a road like this as a racetrack should get a long ban.
If there had been a collision, I think it would have been hard to prove innocence without the dashcam footage.

Loving that Toyota Century; looks like it was designed in 1960 - most probably built in 2016.
You're not far off... The first generation was made from 1967 to 1997 (with some updates,) and the 2nd gen from 1997 to present. The 1997+ version has a V12.

They do come up for auction quite frequently if you ever fancy one - http://auctions.jdmauctionwatch.com/aj-A3aWUFf4zrv...

The luxury that can be produced when you haven't got those pesky bean counters telling you to cut costs! biggrin

Why would you even wait around, let alone for over an hour!

As soon as she moved out of the way I'd have just carried on tbh

Think its a situation of when two idiot drivers meet...

ot quite sure why he keeps putting caption saying about how he let a few cars in further back. What's that got to do with it? Or is he just pointing out that there is no way he is going to let anyone else merge into "his" lane?

'Appears' no doubt about it, look at the pavement, she is on the edge of the lighter section and he starts in the middle of the section in shadow.

I lived in that area at that time, and this type of scene unravelled almost daily, I think it ceases to be merging when you're taking out cones.

It automatically retracts; I wondered the same thing and you can see in the subsequent clips (where they merge onto the motorway) the cars still have their red lights up and there is a tiny flap of metal against the lights which would be the cover piece! Very cool IMO.
