Only 2,000 miles and 1 owner from new, but still, brand new Boxster S money....

I know this is a few pages old but I've just read that particular advert. It says the later Capri's had worse build quality but then was first serviced in '87. Production ended in '86 so wouldn't this be a late model with the supposed inferior quality?

I wouldn't, rarity aside they weren't THAT special.

And the 4pot motor wasn't exactly enthralling.
I’d still have one in a heartbeat. As for prices, I recall them being advertised back in 2006 for £40-50k. That would have bought a lot of rare 964 or 993 back then, which is arguably even more valuable now

AMG-pack 190 Evo1s were still available for low £20Ks in 2011, but then I don’t think they ever had near the same desirability as the EvoII
With that low mileage on it’s almost certain the £300,000 example has gone straight to a collection

Overpriced? Nope, it sold

Does anyone else think Lupo GTIs are crazy prices when compared with other lupos/small cars of that age?
Not really. They're well put together cars which are good fun to drive in my opinion. I'd love one and would happily pay the 5/6 grand for what half decent ones seem to be going for.

Agreed, and I think that was always the case with these, they have been something of a collectors car seemingly since new. I don’t ever recall seeing them used at circuits back in the day, unlike 964 RSs and E30 Sport Evos

In fact the only one I’ve seen out and about was at the Silverstone GP in the mid-90s, and despite being parked in the midsts of various exotica the attention it received was unbelievable. Always remember one comment though to the tune of “what has that person done to their Mercedes?!” laugh

Yes, the lower priced ones go for 2.5 -3k upwards

Doesn’t seem particularly expensive for a late 90s supermini ( which can have a 6-speed box, aircon and Xenons in some cases )

For me at least most of the fun of 190 Evo 2s are the looks.

I'd get a clapped out 190 taxi from Agadir, stick a bodykit on it save a few hundred grand.

I know landcruisers hold their money and have a cult following but I don’t see anyone paying that money for this one

Mind boggling. Some clearly view them differently from the way I do.
Yep, they see them as a financial vehicle rather than an, erm, vehicle.

If you bought that Merc you wouldn’t really drive it and enjoy it as intended, it’s essentially a huge valuable ornament that you could get in and drive if you wanted.

I’d rather buy about 10 ‘average quality’ hot saloons from over the years, and go take them all to track days, ring laps, mega hoons, and get to know the cars.

fk the residuals. And fk buying a car over-priced for it’s ornamental status.

I know that, I’m still tempted by it, it’s incredibly cute and a potential championship winner depending on class structure.

I dont understand this. a brand new one from toyota starts from £50,000 onwards. As a general note I don't understand why anyone would pay thousands for cars that are 10years old and have over 100k on them. stuff like a golf GTI, audi S3 and more.. they might be anywhere frrom £4-8k..but still... you're spending loads of money on a car thats out of warranty and has a fair amount of miles.

Some of us can fix our own motors.
I've had every day cars at 110, 130, 150k miles.
I even had one (not every day car, granted) with 256k on it.

But yes, that specific car is absurdly over priced -

That is the Landcruiser V8. They don't sell them any more in the UK.

My wife had one. It wasn't very good IMHO. The fabled reliability was no longer there (at least on our one) and it drove like a truck. She loved it though. She had the previous shape before it. That one was built like a tank and was indestructible.

This example is absurdly overpriced (though there is definitely a cult around them - I occasionally wondered if it was reverse snobbery versus the Range Rover, which is a better car in every singe way in my experience).

I used to see a couple regularly - one at a local hill climb/sprint but they were never really rapid as standard for the looks like an RS500
Well built though which made them heavy - a friend still has an ordinary 2.5-16 ( like Mike Duff’s car on here ) and they are really well tied down in the corners so I can imagine the EVO 2 would be excellent with another 100bhp

Bit of an odd one that Land Cruiser, interior pics are circa 2010ish but the front end is 2016 face lift which we did not get in the UK

Plus the admin fee scam, although they can't decide whether they want £99 or £149.

"All Vehicle Sales are subject to a £99 Administration Fee."

"All Transactions subject to a £149 admin fee."
