OK... I was going to setup the doodle link for a Southern meet (‘cause I’m nice like that), but my google-fu has failed miserably on finding the place in question (I may have got sidetracked looking at the C&C meet in Charleston SC (lovely place, you should visit - try the bacon-wrapped, crab stuffed shrimp cloud9 )

Can anyone remind me of the link & I’ll get it setup? Can’t promise my attendance, but I can willingly do the legwork on the poll, etc...

edit: typo.

This. There are plenty of cars out there - some munters but plenty in decent condition or better - and it doesn't help that they were built to last and were often the second/third car in a wealthy household. I wouldn't go to too much trouble and expense trying to iron out minor defects at this stage but I'd take a set of good photos and keep my pricing realistic - ask for £7500 and take anything that doesn't seem offensively low.
Did you find a buyer for your pearl (or is it beryl) blue example posted on here? Nice car that.

It is under offer but since the diff is on the way out that's getting replaced before any money changes hands. Found the right one (2.65, ASR/ABS) from a decent seller on German eBay at just about half the price of a UK breaker but it has to wait until the New Year to be fitted.

Also I keep meaning to take out the PS reservoir, replace the leaking hose to the pump and reseal the cam adjuster solenoids but my second child was born nine days ago so everything is having to wait.

It’s a 528 SE with the nice little wheels and ambers. 136k miles. It drives really nicely (more impressions to follow).

It had a long list of works done last year, tyres, and brakes for the MOT.

The car really does seem as nice as in the ad (where these pictures are from).

Love this. Really looks decent in the pics and the original dealer plates? Always onto a winner with those..

I'm very happy with facelift sport, but I think the pre-facelift's are getting better with age.

Southern Barge Meet info:

It was indeed - much obliged Phil.

Poll here: https://doodle.com/poll/spqy4fx5p85sfcyk

I’ve suggested 29th/30th for now, I can change to suit for people as needed.

Uh oh

Are we literally writing literally in our PH posts now.

What will happen next, sending each other actual mail in the post?

Got excited then, but a bit far for me unfortunately at the moment as need every minute I can get working on the house before next year.

Anyone keen for a very southern meet? (Ideally Surrey, Sussex or Hampshire)

I'm on for the Jedburgh meet. Although that rather depends on me successfully replacing the anti-roll bar drop links and bushes on my w210 on 27th since two of my cars are in dock and the wife needs one (which seems fair enough). Not sure whether to bring the w210 or the w201.

Perfect. I’ll come to either of those dates.

Can we pick one and I’ll confirm with another PHer.

I love one bill on the e39’s history.

“Vibration at significantly 80mph+ through seat

- check drive line
- both bottom joints have play
- replaced and resolved “

I was interested for a moment there but that's not southern, that's in the wastelands of the frozen north.

That said I also loved spanking the w124 300e. I will return after a few hundred more miles and compare those two. I think the old w124 300e engine was a touch more refined as well.

And they respond so well to it. A W124 or W201 being driven at 6/7 10ths is a happy W201 or W124!
I’ve spanked both more than that and had my most memorable drives home from the midlands to Scotland in the w124 as a result (the 190 doesn’t handle the same!).

I will do the same in the e39 in the new year - really looking forward to it.

I'm on for the Jedburgh meet too. I'll take the s210 e55. (Unless its snowing then the trusty v70 awd will be joining me.)

Jedborough wink Northern Barge Meet location update:

R129 was kind enough to reply to me, so here’s the meeting place(s).

If the car park directly opposite the Abbey has spaces, then there is perfect (#1)

If not, then around the corner off Canongate (#2)

28th December, say 11:30am?
There may be a few trucks in the larger car park so you'll be fellow weirdos parking up walking around talking rubbish 😂

Kevin come on down!

Apologies once again chaps, a resolution for 2019 is to make it to a slightly more populous barge meet!

I was interested in a southern meet, but the 190 has just blown coolant all over the place and the Landy doesn't quite fit the bill.

I'm happy to take time out of my Christmas to stand in an unknown carpark and interact with complete strangers but only if I can actually arrive in something appropriate.

W140 Pullman for sale, only £9k

I remember one appearing on autotrader in the summer for ~£22k or so and it went quickly, (also in the film Plastic)

So, is this £9k one a bargain or a bit of a dog?

Pretty sure I can make either so have voted both.
