Ideal lady's urban runabout.
I suspect that in some circles this would be seen as massively derogatory or '50s-man', and worthy of scorn, but there is something very sexy about a woman driving a supercar, particularly as nonchalantly as that.

C'mon now, the two are completely different to drive. T'was ever thus, despite the parts sharing.

I know that that's an LM but why the absolute fk would you not buy an F40 if you could?

That is lovely and for ever associated with Ewar Woowar.

I wonder what it will make? Regardless, got to be a relative bargain.

What say you to the 997 C2, GP? I drove a Cayman S back in the day and wasn't that fussed, though the comparator at the time might have been a little unfair.

Buying a 25 yr-old car 400+ miles away? Madness?

Any tips?! Viewings/test drives a nightmare, picking it up a nightmare, and you have a 400 mile drive back in a 25 yr-old car that for all you know may break down on the way home. But I guess a good way to get to know your new purchase, and an epic road trip! (if all else fails then get the RAC to take you home).

Thinking of a c£3k 205 GTi if it makes any difference to the answer!

Holy Mother of God. I've only just watched that clip, and yes, if I am ever able to blow F40 money on a car, it will absolutely have to be on a F40.

I find it very interesting hearing over in the Porsche sub-forum how far damping technology has progressed in the past 15 years*, as well as how much tyres have improved. Apparently putting on Michelin Super Sports absolutely transforms how friendly a Carrera GT is, for example.

So, with £5k on dampers and some Michelin super sports or cup2s (custom sizes, so maybe £5k hehe ) I do wonder how much a F40's driving experience could be made completely, mind-bendingly amazing.

* Former Carrera Cup winner and general GT3-driving legend, Steve Rance, whose garage includes a very focussed 964 on KW Clubsports and Cup 2 tyres that cmoose has driven and written about

Has anyone got any thoughts on where I might be able to find some storage in the Kent / Sussex border area? At the moment I'm knocking on farmers doors hoping to rent a barn or part of a barn for some cash, but no luck so far. Don't want to pay a fortune.
How about your local council lettings and estates department? I rent a garage from my council for ~£60 /mth. No power but dry and secure which satisfies my requirements.

In any event, it's a stupid idea. If we can't all easily fit in it (me, Mrs G, Baby G and all his gubbins) it'll never get used.

Back to the RS4 plan.
RS4 is a good idea if you like your family. A deluded pal of mine paid a couple of Pumas for a pair of OPC kiddie seats to shoehorn into a 997, just so they could leave the family estate at home at the weekend. Yeah, I know.

Look! The family can come too! Had to stifle my giggles when he showed me. What a joke. Great if everybody loves cramp, dead legs and chiropractors, but not my idea of family harmony.
Yup.

911's are for short trips to the pub for four. Nothing more
Thankfully mrs rejn doesn't read this thread. That is not what I want her to hear!!! 911s are good family cars - a weekend away with the kids is no problem in a 997. they do special car seats, and you can even put a roof box on it, etc - these are the kind of quotes I'd like to see on this thread (and maybe the odd picture of somebody who's squeezed 2 kids in the back - all looking happy, etc)...

I might even venture over to the local Porsche centre this weekend to see how feasible it really is!...

The car on the left humped the car on the right. Would a 997 be a fairer fight?

Yawn.

The reality is that one or even two inches to the wheel size makes very little difference to the drive. Secondary ride is maybe a bit busier, but otherwise there's naff all in it other than a bit more grip on the absolute limit (i.e. on a hot lap).

Sorry 'Moose; this is getting boring now.

I've driven one on 17s. It was still a humping.
