Very good, its actually got the (rare) better of the two Dolby systems.... note the small tweeters in the lower speaker panels pointing back in to the car.... not many have that, as it was an 'option on an option' if that makes sense.
Not always true - many early S60s came with the cutout in the doors for the "extra" speakers but never had them fitted. It was certainly the case with my S60 d5 SE.Nice car tho'.
low mileage ugly alfa

Nope - wrong thread. They're two and half times the budget of the bargain basement.£600 for an early 300e with 83k on the clock. It is, however, in The Netherlands! http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C551491

OK, so now I am into bargain territory, took a deposit on my 944 S today, so will be in a position to go shed shopping at the weekend.
I'm after an estate or large hatch - shortlist as before:
MG ZTT 190
Saab 9-5 Aero
P1/P2 V70 T5
ST220
Now I know a bit about the first three, although with the V70, I have had a couple of 850's and here would push towards a cheap P2, but am I asking for trouble? I know to avoid the geartronic - but other than that, are they reasonably reliable?
The ST220 though, have seen a few of these advertised around £1000/1500 now, again, is a cheap ST220 likely to be troublesome, or are they fairly solid/reliable? Anything in particular to look out for?

completely out of thread budget, and not really for consideration here, BUT...
We need a large estate car. Does anyone know anything about these? Would this be a very silly idea....

I am off to have a look at an E39 528i with 170k on it today, someone tell me this isn't a terrible idea?
It is a manual so no autobox worries, and apparently it "drives with no faults"...
FWIW I had an E34 520i with 168k on the clock - and it drove pretty much flawlessly, apart from some occasional very mild slippage form the auto box.It is a manual so no autobox worries, and apparently it "drives with no faults"...
It did eventually develop the dreaded overheating issue though - so I suggest you check the cooling system at the very least.
Also - at a previous job - we had an E39 528i pool car with well over 200k on the clock - it did develop quite a few faults though - one biggie being a broken front spring!!!
I currently have an E46 328i so I know what to look for with cooling problems!
As it happens mine as given zero issues in that area but everyone talks about the cooling system so it will get a proper check.
Where are the big rust spots on the E39? Mine has had its sills done, is the 5 the same?

So the E39 was nice, but the service history had "disappeared".
Drove perfectly well, maybe a bit of brake judder, but pulled well and no rattles.
I just couldn't bring myself to buy a car with 178k on it and zero history... Am I being picky? Left my number in case it turned up!

£995... It is this one:

The mismatched front tyres + Wanlis (sp?) on the back put me off as well.
The rust in the pics is just cosmetic, looks solid underneath and hasn't been welded.
