Compared to the W123 from yesterday this has barely been driven at all, but still not a bad effort (445k miles). It seems a shame to scrap it as it seems to be pretty solid.

hello all,

I've just bought an 2014 Audi A5 sportback black edition 2.0 diesel auto with 180,000 on the clock. It has belonged to the company i work for since new, so full main dealer service and maintenance, new shocks and brakes all round in Feb this year.

I paid £3200, which seems fair to me. Is there anything specific to look out for with this engine and gearbox?

Hopefully it isn't the multitronic auto but the DSG auto instead so make sure oil changes at 40k are maintained and just keep the car serviced. Nothing needed to go above and beyond on that mileage, engine wise it's probably 50% into its life (or less) so a relative youngster. Good to head the suspension has been updated as that's where it would be soggy.

300k in ~6years not bad going. Airport limo.

65k/yr for the first three years
Then 50k (over the 18m covid MOT elongation)
Then 40k

Can't think of a much better place to eat miles.

Why would you not spend £50 on a valet before taking photos? Baffling.

I often wonder this myself. It would at least make the car more saleable!

Anyway the new owner can do that before winding 275,000 off the clock and punting it out for £2,999

The big air freshener over the air vent combined with that drivers seat, has me wrenching, utterly grim. You can get a fabric cleaner from the shop for a couple of quid that'd tidy those seats right, boggles the mind why you wouldn't bother. Makes you wonder what else they couldn't be bothered with, although for it to get to that mileage it obviously must have had regular servicing.

I can just hear the salesman now... "the car speaks for itself" etc. etc.

Why yes it does lol.

The trader pretending to be a private seller with that black Disco must've never seen a Disco 3 before if he thinks the manual box is a rare option.

Ex's dad swore by them too. Had a Disco 3 that he took to 280k miles. Sold it to a farmer who used it as a farm hack when he upgraded to a Disco 4 in 2012 which racked up 250k by the time me and the ex split up. That was about 5 years ago but I believe it's still going now. Used to get both of them fully serviced with genuine LR parts every 10k miles, never had any serious issues with either.
