Yawn! and you called yourself out wink

where does it say its his mum's??

widening the track of a car doesn't normally impact its handling or have all motor-sports got it wrong?

i don't like the arches (too much for me) but i like the black polo and if those arches were closer to the horizontal then if would look better

Singer make a nice tidy profit taking certain VAG cars, lowering, widening, stretching tyres, adding LEDs, tinting things and spending LOADS on interiors.

Perception just looks like snobiness TBH

i'm sure people would prefer he just plays GTA all day, spends his money on drugs, steals cars and gets teenage girls up the duff?? ha

JJ
However widening the track by using wheel spacers and deep dished wheels to do so will upset the handling greatly as the point of contact for the tyre is far more than intended to the main suspension uprights which take the load and weight of the car, fulcrums and levers etc
Stretching tyres to the extent of that VW will significantly alter the performance of the tyre as the sidewall mechanics have been distorted way outside their design parameters.

Shhhhh, stop talking sense, we're spoiling peoples fun, and causing kids to get up to all sorts of scallywaggery, which they wouldn't be doing if they had a VW to ruin biggrin

I would have thought that high insurance costs on anything with a big engine is why small hatchbacks yet ruined in this way.
Are you suggesting this young fella hasn't notified his insurers about the stuff he's done to his Polo (shock and / or horror)?

If we had thousands to spend on a car and modifications, I'd hope the majority of PHers would choose a car that is somewhat worthy of thousands being spent on it, or get a remotely well-engined one and spend the remainder on insuring it. I know I would!

Anyway, back on subject, how about this, er, stunnah which popped up on a mate's FB page. Love the arch-on-arch extensions.

good job it's got that 'bonnet bra' under the wind deflector, I'd hate to think a stray stone chip could ruin that paint job

It was in an episode of Rob and big black and was built to advertise extra large condoms iirc

Everyone loves a modified Hyundai Coupe, we had the Ferrari tribute one a few pages back so here's an old school Max Power style monstrosity. Obligatory 'Show Car' description.

But people like Singer don't stretch tyres over silly little wheels and put the numberplate in the top of the windscreen because scene.
Singer Porsche 911 offer a 225 on a 9'' rim and it doesn't appear to compromise safety or handling.

and for how long have british sports cars used stick on plates on the bonnet? is an e-type numberplate "scene" or requirement due to not spoiling the front end

I have a 3/4 plate to stop a full size plate restricting airflow to the rad - not "scene"

lots of companies suggest a range of rim widths for their tyres

trouble is, the discussions are never based on logical thinking but on "it looks wrong so will throw sticks at it"

by angling the sidewalls you actually increases the predictability of handling

think about it from an engineering perspective

what manages a lateral force better? something at 90 degrees or something at 45 degrees?

i am not a fan of the polo, its too much and could look better if not so extreme. but not against at all.

chucking out "illegal" and "dangerous" is useless as there is nothing to back it up

there are many things that are in the same category

LED sidelight bulbs in a headlamp unit breaks the CE certification of the unit

doing 33 in a 30 zone

doing 80 on a motorway

....oh and i quite like the transit connect. all looks done quite well. unless we want to get into a discussion about bull bars and their fitting wink

Think about it from an engineering perspective , your sealing surface is now taking it's load 45° before you start to load it up

Pretty much the definition of covered in glue and dragged through Halfords backwards.

The spare wheel and ladder on the back are quite special.

You are confused as to what keeps the tyre on the rim

air pressure pushes in all directions no matter what the angle of sidewall

the air pressure takes the load of the car not the sidewall

So you're saying that flipping this round and making the rim bigger than the tyre won't affect sealing or ahesion to the rim?
