Good work on the w124. Yes it's a lot to spend on an old car, but they are special and in the scheme of things you are spending less than a second hand fiesta costs many people.

Tell her it's appreciating.

Which is probably true, for a nice example. The trouble is that the maintenance for a good example costs more!

Hi guys, i'm After a bit of advice on the value of my R129SL.

It's on an H plate, it's a 500sl-32.

You can just about see the 2 tone paint in this picture (no, not white :P).

It has 4 continental tyres with under 100 miles, under 50 miles on the new brake disks, pads and handbrake shoes.

On the downside, the MOT has run out, The hardtop headliner is sagging, I purchased a can of spray on adhesive to fix this.

The metal piece of the engine that connects to the top radiator hose will need the screw hole rethreading or that part replacing.
Whilst doing a coolant change the screw was removed to bleed the coolant, unfortunately it only had half a thread when removed and when a replacement was screwed in, it stripped that too, so it's currently filled with a larger bolt to stop it leaking but will need sorting before going back to full time use.

It has the usual rusty front wings, but no worse than when I got it.

The soft top works but has a tiny split where the rear window plastic bends.

I think it is around 100,000 miles, just under, like 97k i think.

Needs a little work before use, however would make a nice SL for someone with 2 new wings, the engine done and cooling system bleed and the roof liner stuck up.

Also has a fairly new, very large Bosch silver battery as well.

Cheers Guys.

Thoughts on whether I should move my shed a bit to the left?

Seriously, without an MOT it is worth bugger-all.

With an MOT, if it is nice, but not stunning, maybe £5k?

Yes I am looking forward to it.

It's on the 29th December, and the event page and sign up is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I'm in Barcelona at the moment and there is a complete lack of interesting barges. The most interesting cars I have seen were a couple of old range rovers.
thumbup thanks. Signed up now!

That does look OK. At least a couple of grand would need to be in the reserve fund to get it working properly though.
