Is that 250 genuine?
Yes, it's chassis 4115GT, owned by Paul Vestey.

The owner's identity is obviously significant, so who's Paul Vestey?

Not especially, just that he's owned it a long time and is well known in historic racing circles for using it properly. A significant number of these cars have been in long-term ownership and the cars' identities are often closely associated with their owners.

As for who he is, Sir Paul Vestey, 3rd Baronet of Shirley, whose family founded the Blue Star Line shipping company, and whose family business group formerly owned such well-known brands as Dewhurst the Butchers and Oxo, as well as the Oxo Tower in London.

Thanks thumbup That's what I got when I Googled it, but I assumed I was actually expecting to find that property developer bloke, or the one who owns Rutland or something.

Clearly a self made man then biglaugh

Good on him for actually driving the thing. Some people buy a classic Ferrari and then wrap it in cotton wool and stick it in the heated garage for 5 years hoping for the value to soar so they can flog it again.

I read a while ago that he's had it for a similar length of time as Nick Mason (so late 70's/early 80's maybe) when they were expensive, but not £50m worth, maybe he's still got the same attitude towards driving it, neither of them seem to be particularly precious about them.

Nor are either of them short of a few quid either, which probably helps!

Well, where the third car back is, the flint building to the right used to be the Girl's Department, us lads were about 100m further up the road on the same side. Was only a small school.
