It's a decent tash as far as they go in my book, doesn't mean it looks good though... In fact it looks pathetic

Ha ha. Uncanny!

I can’t believe people watch her vids or that manufactures invite her to launches. I think she’s bloody awful.

Think Chris Harris or Sam Moores mentioned something about demo/press fleet cars and the life they live. Despite being caned and driven hard they'll always be looked after so they're absolutely spot on for whoever gets them next.
Not always- a colleague of mine had no end of issues with an Aston he bought that was, allegedly, ex-demo. 18 months down the line he was still battling with them on an 8-page list of issues that were not covered under warranty. Some searching uncovered it being used on Top Gear by Mr Clarkson and Aston then took it back. It comes to something when I view a used Ferrari as a safer purchase than an Aston.

I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t see why all the kids have an errection over Supercar Blondie - she’s a weird looking woman. Appears to know nothing about cars apart from what’s on the script she’s given.
I imagine a lot of her viewers come from places like India.

(and yes, she's annoying as ****)

Despite them being well serviced I suspect they are also ragged from cold and sometimes put sideways round a track and generally less cared for.

The point here I think, is that Blondie has been paid a substantial amount of money for a fairly humdrum video. This is the type of video that Shmee or Carwow would put out on a very bad day and it would get half a million views, for nowt. Yet BMW has decided to pay Blondie for it and that has far reaching consequences for the rest of those at that level. Why would Shmee now do the same sort of video for nothing? Methinks that the left hand of BMW marketing doesn't know what the right hand is doing....
Is this much more different than Mr JWW being a paid for spokesman for Jaguar or was it Aston I can't remember. No doubt he get's preferential treatment on car launches on that basis. It is wasn't for my tremendous respect for the gentleman that is Harry Metcalf, one could be worried for the truthfulness of his reviews of his employer JLR products.

It is a sad to see the downfall of Automotive Media when true reviewer drivers like Tiff Needle must go begging for patreon donations having been ousted from Fifth Gear while the other rubbish thrives on Youtube but this is the democratised world we live in.

The income that is gained from YT videos means that trying to produce stuff in the way Lovecars does (basically like Fifth Gear) is never gonna make much money. I can't imagine Tiff is cheap, and shooting with a crew means they need paying. Wasn't /DRIVE losing heaps of money when they were making videos?

You're right they were losing money/barely breaking even. I honestly don't know how automotive youtubers are supposed to make a decent living without making clickbait material.

Cars are just expensive and cumbersome if you think about it, they take up a lot of space, they are ridiculously complex. Compare this to a food video or fashion video on youtube, the overheads are miles apart.

What would you say is the way forward for the automotive scene on youtube?

Probably like Carwow where its secondary venture to the business and also acts like marketing. Their on 3 million subs and the videos get a ton of views as well.

I would honestly say that to become one of the powerhouses of automotive vlogging on YouTube now you've really got to think outside the box, i personally believe this is why STG drive the world tour wasn't overly exciting, there's only so much of the same thing you can watch before you say "it's getting boring now"

I personally like watching videos from people who feature more realistic cars that the masses can better afford to buy, but obviously understand that everyone's different in what they like and don't like.

I have on occasion watched TGE but even he fully admits that when he does a serious video the views are poor, the second he churns a clowning about video out the views come flocking in, strange world YouTube is.

I've never really watched much Carwow stuff, most of the suggested videos for me are drag races, is that their main output or do they do proper reviews?

Very good reviews of fairly mundane stuff (SUVs etc), with odd good vid driving something like an E60 M5 for example. I thought it was just drag races too before I came to researching the OH's next company car.

I unsubbed from JWW months ago, but I have to say that Valkyrie piece was awesome - the footage, techy details - the noise... Ooof

Paid for promotions? Surely staying indepedent is the best as you just end up with videos saying how good everything is.

Not so strange. Leave the serious stuff to petrolheads, leave the clowning to clowns.

Title? Japolink must have watched the VIDEO to write that article. The video does not imply James was at the wheel. Keep digging.
