I've studied this for a while now, and I can't work out whether or not it's supposed to say something.
I can only see 'D.I.S.C.O' and then I start singing again.
I think it says Vote.

Love that BigR doesn't even know and its in his garage!
It definitely says VOTE.

Regarding budget, i achieved a 1,300 sq ft triple (could probably squeeze 5 in there) with separate toilet and store room with a 2 pack epoxy floor, handmade tiles, brickwork plinth and a few other nice touches for less than £30k - i didn't build above because that would have been a planning nightmare in the green belt where i live, so i went with PD.

Granted, i was fine with trench foundations and it was a very straightforward construction, but you can certainly achieve the space for very reasonable money.

I baulked at a resin drive though, it was going to be £65k for my drive!!!! i'm not that bothered....

Wish I’d know that before. I tried a few, including Hormann (their uk main hub is 5 miles away) and was told an unnoquivacal ‘no’ by all. Damn.
To do it I apparently need the SPU F42 Plus shaft motor system.......hope that means something to you!

I think that the graffitti is supposed to be the name of the artist, which from the signature appears to be Voteq. I may be wrong though.

Not the best garage by far, but thought I'd post as some have mentioned head height issues. If your considering building a workshop/garage with a lift I'd suggest you purchase a metal frame industrial style building. They aren't expensive, are designed to your dimensions and you can clad them in anything you like, I chose Siberian Larch cladding. You can have the doorway as wide as you like and there are no roof trusses so the car can be lifted right to the top of the roof. I have 4m of head clearance. All built under permitted development. This one cost me about £6K and I put it up myself. The roof lights are really useful and I wouldn't have a workshop without them.

All I have to do is decide on which scissor lift to buy? I designed the garage with a 2 post lift in mind but have since changed my mind to a scissor lift.

Looking for door inspiration as I don't really want a door that goes up and over or a roller so the inside of the garage always has clean lines. Found this picture of a garage which looks great IMO and noticed the doors seem to be hinged and operate in the way an electric gate would. Does anyone know who makes these doors or similar as I have searched everywhere but to no avail! House is in Surrey so thought it maybe someone down south (although sadly house sold last year so can't even go and have a look).

Here is mine. I actually have managed to get 3 cars in there comfortably with the R5 on dollies and turned around sideways at the back. Plus I have a large garage workbench/storage solution in there too.

Surprisingly large garage for a new build (built June 2018)

You mean barn doors with electric openers? I'm surprised you can't find them; they're not uncommon

Yes - I've read VOTE in it before too. Don't know why I didn't ask - I guess I just enjoyed the art, darling. Or summink.

Does look big for a new build!

Picture doesn't help me much in my "must resist getting a Trophy"-mode....

That's essentialy whay I've currently got, but not automated.

The issue I have is that the doors are incredibly draughty (look at the daylight under them in the pics), not weather tight, and if you use in ground gate automation like that pic, the top of the door is flapping so not what I'd call remotely sealed or secure.

To be fair, the ones you've posted use an overhead opener with a barn door converter on them.

The pic he posted uses in ground gate automation.

Surely that's just a case of choosing the doors and getting an electric gate company to fit them with in-ground activators? Expensive, yes, but certainly not difficult.

Not difficult, just pointing out that the guy said he wanted a clean look inside so the link posted wouldnt give you that as it's a differnt type of opener.

Also as I mentioned in the other post, barn doors are not very weather proof and if only secured at the bottom edge as would be the case with in ground gate automation, I'd be worried about security..

But it certainly looks neat internally, pros and cons with everything I guess

Gotta get one Bungle!

I sold that one in 2008 and randomly found it for sale whilst searching PH classifieds as I usually do. Sleeping in the spare room for a week whilst the wife got over it was so worth it.

Do it, you wont regret it.

You can get sectional doors that stack at the head nice and tidy, popular in Europe. U valve is 0.43 W/(m²·K), which is not bad, great sound/draft proofing using a 40 mm thick panel. Also secure as you can fit additional locks including ground locks, interlocked if need be. I have been in this game for 30 years and know all the types of doors, also available in wood grain finish externally so look smart also.

P.s- Dutch and German are the best at these.

Exactly!! Thats what I have thought every time I have added to my little growing fleet!

All I have to sacrifice is a bit of ear-ache and a week or two in the spare room! laugh

Being that the Trophy I bought a few months ago was the one I sold in 2008, it now has quite high mileage at 76k (50k of which I put on it in my original ownership) I did offer up the suggestion that I should perhaps get another much lower mileage example to put away into proper storage and then I could drive and enjoy mine.

I was told that if I did that, I would not only be sleeping in the spare room for a specified time but that I would also then have to find another wife. eek - So decided to park that little idea for a while.

Instead she did tell me I could change my daily station smoker so chopped my 2003 3.0 Z4 and got a 10 plate 50k one owner HSE RR Sport!

I am still in the spare room. Been there since christmas. laugh

Marriage is fine. She just hates my addiction to changing my cars!

My advice is just get it done! Let me know when you have!

I’m just about to give the go ahead on 6 sectional doors from Hormann

I’d resigned myself to having to accept having all the tracks and stuff inside as a necessary evil

So I’d love to know more, PM me if it’s easier please
