The blue car is an Isuzu and the red car is a replica or possibly real original 1950s Testarossa .

Don't know about the beige estate car.

A bunch more snaps from Japan in 2018 that I'd not uploaded before.
Always lovely shots from the Japanese correspondent... helps having a great camera and lens - very natural looking shots. Fab.

Makes me want to dig out my Leica rather than my iPhone!

250 TR I thought, could be mistaken though.

Vents seem more like the 500TR to me but I’m no Ferrari anorak.

It’s time like this I wish Tigerkoi was still posting on this thread!

To be fair, I didn't know there was a 500 TR so I'll go with you haha

Cheers! Although I wish I was a Japanese correspondent, that'd be Voxy. He lives in Tokyo.

I was just fortunate to spend a few months there a couple years ago and have been wanting to go back ever since.

He does still grace us with his spots and write up every once in a while.

It's a 250 TR 'pontoon-fender'.

How do Japanese numberplates work, it seems like having a 1 is like having a personalised plate. I assume they are done per Prefecture since they all seem to be 4 digits.

Everything here:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registrati...

You can choose (or be allocated) a registration when buying a new or used car. I have a 4 digit number on mine which was chosen by the kids and cost about US $109.

A “1” plate is considered desirable and costs the same, but due the popularity they are assigned by lottery - albeit it seems most (strangely or not?!) end up on luxury sports cars...

I’m still here in Tokyo, although my photos are mostly iPhone shots and nowhere as good the ones STIFree posts.

I’ve been lazy and not uploaded many recently - I’m still taking them so will post an update soon.

Nice photos as always. What’s the vertical rod on the front corner of the Merc 500E? Is it to help him get a better idea of the car’s extremities when parking? Like the old S Class reversing antennae? Also that Lotus Elite is a great spot. Did you know that Japan is currently the world’s largest market for Lotus? Even bigger than the UK.

Thanks, good that you like them.

Yes, the rod is basically to act as a parking guide - but they ruin a car for me and I’m not sure how much help they really are.

I see a lot of Lotus so it doesn’t surprise me that Japan is now the largest market. A near neighbour has four - an Evora GT, 2-Eleven, Esprit 300 Sport and ‘70s Europa JPS. I wonder how the Evija will be received here.

The 3 piece alloys make me think that could be an E60 rather than an E500. Mercedes only approved 12 of the Limited versions for the ROW (back when AMG were a different company), but the local Mercedes and AMG facilities in Japan made a few more, but never the less, very rare and a great spot.

Go for strong money now. Check this:

They may only be iPhone shots, but the sheer quantity of quality spots, with surprisingly good quality for a phone, it doesn't matter!

Here are the two rarest cars I have ever (knowingly) seen on the road.

The first was on a cold winter's morning when I was driving to work - shame I was driving so I couldn't get a clearer image. Sorry.

The second was on my one holiday in Dubai where these things may not be so rare. My daughter is standing next to the car but wants to remain anonymous, hence the badly blurred face. Sorry about that too, but at least the Veyron is clear.
