What about really crappy cars outside expensive houses?????
That could turn into a huge thread!https://www.google.com/maps/@51.50134,-0.198453,3a...
A PH'ers wet dream... wealth whispers and all that.
Its been a slow evening admittedly
Maybe some of these people with 'ordinary' houses have a wife like mine who loves it so much she refuses to move, or like my wife and I have a young toddler and a newborn which is also one of the reasons she won't entertain it. Much to my annoyance.
It wouldn't stop me parking a Ferrari outside though if I could. Life really is too short to worry about what anyone else thinks, especially nosy neighbours.

Not bad polo on the next road and a nice merc just around the corner too: https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5007363,-0.1983758...

Good find. Streetview can be a bit of a rabbit hole, especially in these times. The amount of 'average' and random older every day cars in London is incredible. Its been a slow evening admittedly
Buying a house is a lot harder now, we have been in two chains that have collapsed over the past 18 months so have decided to stay where we are as it’s a perfectly good house and area but just want something a bit bigger.
In the summer I leave my other car on the drive and it’s currently worth about 30% of the house but my neighbours know it’s mine and they could not care less. I would garage it but being a newer house it won’t fit.

A friend of mine (happily single) lives in a tiny house on an estate, but owns three light aircraft with a share in a fourth. The combined value of his aircraft fleet would comfortably buy a supercar, and the combined annual maintenance costs would easily run one.
Circumstances play a part too. If I were single and didn't have kids, I'd have a far more modest house than I'm living in now, and almost certainly all manner of man maths justified ridiculousness on the drive.

I tend not to care what others think but from a personal perspective, I do find the incongruity of a very expensive car outside a house in a less than nice area, quite jarring.
For me, it's less to do with the cheapness of the house and more to do with the area & location.
Conversely, I think older, sheddy cars at hugely expensive properties is kinda cool. Not in a "wealth whisperers" bks way, I just like the idea.
Having said all that, each to their own

I live in a little 2 bed maisonette in North Yorkshire. I bought it new, I also have an F430 and a Quattroporte. They are probably worth 70% of the house value between them. My good lady moved in with me around 18 months ago; we have no children, no ties and we never have to worry about going out for dinner or booking a holiday. Nor do we need to own a bigger property than we live in now, when it’s just the two of us and two cats.
I’m sure a lot of people would do things differently, but I intend to live my life, enjoying it as much as possible. We both do our own thing with our own money, and providing that the cars don’t affect our quality of life, that’s how it will stay.

fast forward 12 months and you'll be in a 5 bed new build with a kid on the way, live laugh love on the kitchen wall, throw cushions, no italian cars but a nice Ford Focus but you got a great deal on a lease I’m sure a lot of people would do things differently, but I intend to live my life, enjoying it as much as possible. There's a white Lambo parked near the local secondary school, sat outside a 1980's council terrace.
I reckon he's either an amateur pharmacist (fnar-fnar) or won it in a BOTB comp.
I'll get the lad to snap a pic on his way home (if he can be bothered...)

And the driver's door mirror hasn't been folded in, unlike the cheaper cars behind.
