Alfa Romeo 156 JTS Veloce Sportwagon, leather, 'few parking scrapes', 109k miles, £850.
Bit odd that that those side skirts are one of the first features mentioned!

The alarm is easy to fix, and headlights are cheap.
That's sat in my watched list right now.The alarm is easy to fix, and headlights are cheap.
Apparently they chip quite easily as well. (noobtune?)

BBS milans too --
low mileage vulva

horrendously cheap merc
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mercedes-e230-/191488591...
must be able to weigh it in close to the asking price of 325 surely?
Merc looks excellent for a dog/utility car. Can't believe 16 people have made him offers at that price. Gonna be the same people who try and haggle at a boot sale. Better off sticking the price at a grand and avoiding the scummy free-ads gumtree-type enquiries (yah, I know, snobby etc), but just tell the first "proper" person to ring that the price is actually not a grand, but £350.

Oddly enough, I think I'd probably do the same although it might seem counter-intuitive.scdan4 said:

If it is a manual then I would take a punt on it! Assuming the cooling system is fine and the rust isn't bad then it should be ok. l354uge said:

First facelift 9-5 I have seen in BB territory, nice looking cars. Front bumper has had paint / been replaced and the drivers side has had a knock but looks ok besides that. Also why isn't it being advertised as an Aero, despite the fact that it appears to be one? Could be a bargain if it checks out!

Its trashed now as it has been converted to springs. The air suspension is a nice part of the car and is not really that troublesome.
I used to think that P38s with the coil spring conversion were the ones to look out for (an oxymoron perhaps; a P38 'to look out for'?).After joining a couple of OCs, it seems that air suspension isn't really something to be scared of given that it isn't actually that expensive to repair/ replace. Would also have to agree that they lose a huge part of their appeal without the air. No one that knows anything about them seems to want to buy a coil-converted car either. Alot of the P38 beards will tell you that coil springs are actually dangerous in high speed cornering/ evasive manoeuvres given the permanently high CoG.
Suspect that air suspension is actually the least of anyone's worries on a P38 once electrical gremlins/ cooling issues/ cracked blocks etc are considered. Heated seats never seem to work either, which is one feature I'd really want (or maybe just find one with the brown velour interior!).
Another thing I picked up on the forums was that ownership is something of a lottery. There are guys with 2001 models and FLRSH that have nothing but trouble, and really annoying people with old £1200, 200K+ mile sh*tters which just work perfectly.
Even after all of that, something in my mind tells me I'd be grand with a diesel manual P38. The only thing that stops me is that Im an utterly useless mechanic, which breaks P38 rule #1; be able to work on them at home.
Doubt that a £1K P38 is much riskier than a £3K+ one, so if someone is feeling lucky...
If you win the lottery and get a sound example, its gotta be the very best of the bargain basement bar none.
