Will Coronavirus hit used car prices?
Discussion
Given interest rates are so low I think the long anticipated classic car price crash may not be happening as I thought it would.
Sold my Boxster and 235 last month with considerable interest in both. I anticipated sales of used cars would tank due to covid. This has not been my experience at all thus far. I have pals who have sold 993 and an R8 during Covid as well.

I dont think this question should be missed - anyone pickup or see a bargain today?
Or anyone seeing anything online in the used market worth commenting on?
No movement whatsoever in the Jaguar V8s I'm watching (2009 on, £15-25k, <60k miles) on price. And pretty much nothing being sold either which is to be expected. But nonetheless I'm guessing its not fun seeing stock parked like that for months.Or anyone seeing anything online in the used market worth commenting on?
Maybe the merest hint that newly listed stuff is coming on a little cheaper? Spotted a Jaguar approved XFR that looked cheaper. Not scientific though, just AT searches and my memory, and it's quite a small set of results anyway.
Would dealers not prefer to discount some stock to try to generate some cash flow rather than leave them sat there at prices they are not selling at?
I understand they try to work in a certain amount of profit per vehicle but with stock that hasn't moved in months surely that figure doesn't mean anything anymore and shifting some stock is a priority?

Or keep them at the same price AND sell them. Win win.I understand they try to work in a certain amount of profit per vehicle but with stock that hasn't moved in months surely that figure doesn't mean anything anymore and shifting some stock is a priority?
Who says they’re not selling?

No movement on M2s at the lower price points anyway.
Also any other specific cars i've been watching theres been no movement.
Why would anyone buy a car now as a private buyer?
Unless it is an emergency purchase for employment, then it is an incredibly poor decision given the circumstances and what is to come in any recession never mind this one.
Patience is the word.Six months from now and government band aid long gone with no p/x is when I will call.

Ok, I have looked at the selling price of the following cars (0-60<=5s, mileage<100k, more than 10 new listings or modified listings in the last week on autotrader) and it seems that there has been a drop of -1.6% in selling price from last week.
Update fo this week (no change), although there seem to be some cars dropping faster than otherstinyboytim said:
House prices have fallen by the greatest amount in more than 11 years as the coronavirus crisis hammers the market, mortgage lender Nationwide said on Tuesday.
Nothing to see here, move along please.
fk me, do you work for the Daily Mail???Nothing to see here, move along please.
Please quote them CORRECTLY.
"House prices see largest monthly fall for 11 years, says Nationwide"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52888991
That is hardly a surprise to anyone, is it?
Nor did they say "as the coronavirus crisis hammers the market" - they never said that at all frankly thats just something you added for dramatic effect.
What they did say was - ""We have already seen a sharp economic contraction as a result of the necessary measures adopted to suppress the spread of the virus," said Robert Gardner, Nationwide's chief economist. But he pointed out that the raft of policies adopted to support the economy should "set the stage for a rebound once the shock passes" and help limit long-term damage."
Honestly, i know theres a minority expect / want the entire country to burn but please dont make quotes up to support your agenda and narrative..

Came across this beast browsing autotrader
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...
a 2006 bently continental for £15k
I'm not really too clued in on Bentley values so could be well wrong, but my initial reaction was must be a fix upper, but advert does not suggest it is.
seems way to cheap, 3 months ago I would have assumed scam but is this where thing are now?
I’ve been watching that for a while and keep being tempted as it’s a lot of car for the money and only 5 miles away from me. Must resist! https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

And other than the summary news article pasted, can you find ANY reference to Nationwide using the words "as the coronavirus crisis hammers the market"?
I'm not the one who thinks the entire country is going to crash and burn and is scrabbling around to find evidence to support it. Maybe its you who needs to relax a little?
