Sam's latest video with the 488 pista is good to watch. His enthusiasm is clear and he is a fairly likeable but harmless chap. Looks like a fantastic little hoon, I say.

He seemed a little underwhelmed by the actual car though I thought.

The fact he crashed and got the race to end early is typical.

As funny as I found it, it must have been infuriating for the other driving who are driving vs someone who can be so aggressive and not care if they crash because there's no consequences, he may as well try and be aggressive and win.

Actually, it’s more the case that the pro (sponsored) drivers all just expect the VIP driver (Archie inbthis race) to yield every time because they’re fighting for a prize. If you watch the french female driver shut the door on Archie pretty hard when he had the racing line. He had nowhere to go but into her. She clearly didn’t look because she didn’t expect him to push that hard, but she clearly doesn’t know that he’s a proper, aggressive driver who has competed in some serious championships.

No, her move was stupid and just expecting him to brake because he is VIP was stupid. It made a mess of his race and didn't help hers. If she had the pace, she should have went around him.

It’s a real shame because like him or not, Archie was really hoping to show his mettle in this race to others and he was denied that opportunity.

Hope he gets another chance. I shouldn't say I hate anyone until I meet them but their online 'personality' is in someways, I am sure, reasonably close to how they are so you can get an idea.

I thought the same as the commentators, that Archie’s move was optimistic. I just don’t think he got far enough alongside to claim the corner.

That’s just my opinion.

Meanwhile Shmee drops another video showing just how much work he puts in to create the content for his videos, this one featuring all of his 8 cars. Views look high for recent videos, 10-15 million views over the last month, which he must be pleased with.

To my eyes, when they’re all in the same car, Archie has to do something like that to get down the inside of someone to force them not to turn in. Or else it just becomes a big long procession until someone makes a mistake, so you’ve got to come up with different tactics. The other driver shouldn’t have turned in

His move was very optimistic, but you can't blame a guy for trying.

The people commenting were more annoying tbh.

Looked like he simply missed his braking point, as opposed to a deliberate move to overtake? Either way, I'm sure he'll be disappointed.

ETA - The guy hasn't raced for a while so it's not surprising he is a little rusty. Adrenalin and enthusiasm make for quite a heady mix and any one make series would be tough to make an impact in (excuse the pun) against drivers who have experience from previous events. I know he's a past Le Man winner etc, but would have been good to see him in some of the lesser UK series, like MX5 or Compact cup. I would imagine he could afford to finance a few races for himself too.

It's not the most exciting formula anyway if that race is typical?

Been watching these guys fire up cars that have been stood for donkeys years.

Very well made points and I agree. If he spent less time clowning around and put his efforts into lower class racing and did well, then he may well see other doors opening for him.

Archie did compete in some fairly high end races. It just seems to me that in the racing world, "good enough" is never good enough. Like many things in life success is never down to simple raw talent - I for one am glad he is racing again and hope it makes up more channel content.

The problem is there are way more drivers than seats, especially seats where you're not expected to pay for the privilege of being there and because of the costs involved, talent is never going to be enough unless you luck into a works drive.

The track was too narrow, all the squeaking and bumping was more annoying too. I do feel for Archie crashing so early into the race. The cars seem very flimsy as well. He barely kept his headlights for a minute or two...

The pit crew seemed pretty optimistic about just how strong a gaffa taped repair was going to be. laugh
