Interesting. How do you find the 330d coming from the RS4?
I often wonder if I could do the 330d or 335d thing as they sound so good on paper. But always decide I couldn't live with the sound or apparently the woeful 4wd system in the BMW. Would be interested in your thoughts going from a high performance petrol to a diesel?
I went the other way, owned a 335d for a couple of years, albeit not a Touring, and went to a B5 RS4 via a couple of other things. For me the BMW is an incredibly functional tool, and on paper ticks so many boxes, but in reality has zero character. Only thing I miss is the MPGI often wonder if I could do the 330d or 335d thing as they sound so good on paper. I'm another one that thinks that if you really enjoy a nice petrol engine...a diesel engine will eventually grate on you a fair bit once you've appreciated the mpg gain for a while. I went from a X5 4.8iS to a 520d touring and it was a big culture shock! I really liked the 5 series though and it was lovely to drive but the engine was a step too far for me.
Didn’t know you’d had a 4.8 X5 Lee. Lots to like about a silly-engined SUV, and that’s a superb one in thoseLeins said:

I did love the engine to bits thanks. There was a lovely feel good factor about that car I thought, and I only got rid of it because I couldn't keep up with the fuel bills because it was my daily. I loved the experience of having one for sure though.

That’s probably because you went to a 4 pot!After my 330d I had a 320d for a while, I was so disappointed with how much difference there was performance and sound wise.
The most annoying thing was that the 320d wasn’t that much better on fuel, certainly not enough to make up for the worse sound and lower power!
I’ll never buy another 4 pot diesel again, but would happily have another 6 pot.

I used to have a 330d that I really liked. I've also had a couple of 6 pots(640d/GLC350d) since the 520d...so I've not been completely put off by the experience of the 4 pot!

S = Station Wagon
V = Limousine
VF = Pullman
W = Saloon (Wagen)
R = Roadster

Is 190HP considered fast enough for this thread? If so then I'll grab a bucket and sponge, give it a clean and post some pics, if not then pass on the pics but cleaning it will at least pass some time lol.
That’s what my ‘91 Alpina Touring had. It certainly felt like it was going quickly at anything above 120, even if it would struggle to keep a modern 518d honestLeins said:
