RE: SOTW: BMW M5
Discussion
Go for it, whats the worst that can happen?
I mean, you fall in love it, so fix it when it breaks. This quickly use up all your money, your wife leaves you as you can no longer afford the mortgage payments and lose your home. Still you are loyal to the car, it breaks again, you begin to steal to fund the motor, you get caught stealing, get sent to jail, get given the "friendly" new guy in jail treatment. You get out of jail, look at the car thats been stood for a year whilst in jail, get depressed, take crack/smack to over come the pain of looking at the motor, and flash backs of the "friendly" treatment in jail. O and catch the aids from drugs/friendly treatment. Still M5 time.
So, wheres the car based, and whats the least he will take for it?

Love it best SOTW bar none.
This would make an excellent winter project cause at that price even if you had to replace suspension/brakes/bushes and wheel bearings (as well as the mentioned clutch)which are all quite easy fixes if you've got the space you could have a very nice classic to use come next summer.
And no way would you loose money (unless the motor went pop!)
its just a shame space and girlfriend get in the way really.

All you naysayers moaning about costs and money pits should be ashamed and hand your manbership back and head off to mums net. This is an M5 for a grand!
It matters not what may go wrong with it. A new clutch is supplied with the car so just sling her up on axle stands, drag the box out and fit the new clutch. It really isn't hard on such a simple engineered vehicle (a bloody mini clutch change is harder than this)
Mot'd till june 2012! buy it fix it and enjoy it.

I'm clearly misguided for saying this, but all I can see when i read this is "M5." Yes, it will probably breakdown, but the few thousand (or likely hundred) miles that it does work will be well worth the risk. If I hadn't just bought a Volvo
(an obvious substitute) and had anyway of insuring it, this would have been bought - pronto.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

At least its a bit different from every other E34 M5 I have seen recently- it doesnt have an (I havent been to) Nurburgring badge on the boot, which is nice ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
To be honest I get really bored of everyone worshiping the 'M' badge just for the sake of it, Great engine, not feeling the rest of it. Give me the Jaaaag from previous sotw any day, it had real class.
The Jag is pure class, but this is a totally different beast.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

It is built 10x better than the Jag, everything will be nice and tight with the interior.
If you have owned / driven one, then you will understand it's appeal...
To put it in perspective, I reckon I could get more fun out of this than a week in Spain (which I cannot break down and sell when I've finished with it, although I regularly feel like I may break down upon returning from my holidays). Bummer is I've just booked and paid for a week in Spain and therefore have no spare pennies ![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)

Have you the faintest idea how just how much those bits will cost?
I am not convinced it has the right wheels on the back either...
This car is a hiding to nothing, make no mistake.
Why do you say that the wheels on the back are incorrect?I am not convinced it has the right wheels on the back either...
This car is a hiding to nothing, make no mistake.
The staggered wheels were an optional extra, and not all were fitted with the wider rears....

Great shed! Has anyone on PH ever purchased a PH shed? I'd like a follow up story.
Me (twice) with many follow-up stories. Also I believe pSyCoSiS bought the E30 325i track day car from a few months back, and an E32 &35i from 2009 has been through the hands of vaious PHers......I'm sure there are others, too... if you're out there, and you bought an SOTW-featured car PM me, and we might well do some sort of follow-up feature
