Last year my MiL bought my lad (who was 4) a Lego kit. It happened to be the McLaren Mercedes race transporter and race car.
Totally underestimated the time it would take, started at 7 pm, didnt finish till 2am!

It wasn't a Lego kit it was Megablox. If any Lego geeks hear you say this you will be burnt at the stake!

Putting the decals on tomorrow, as well as solving a problem with drive (I've got full arm and bucket movement but no drive!)
I hope you put the cogs in the correct way (the dark grey ones next to the red ones) I learnt the hard way and had to take it apart again as its not possible to do it once built!

It was a while ago! You are right, it was Megablox. How do they get away with such a blatant copy? Lego must have a fairly waterproof patent on their design?

Heres mine, built in a day. My back in bloody killing me!

Is that a kit or a self-build? Either way it's flipping awesome!

Finished my Unimog this evening - had great fun building it these last couple of days! biggrin

Which one to buy next though... scratchchin Really tempted by the 8258 Crane truck or the 8043 Excavator, I think this could be a slippery slope frown

I got the MEGA Bloks Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS as a present and built it today. Although it's a blatent copy of LEGO it's still pretty decent and it's good for Porsche fans! Hmm, which toy do I treat myself with in the new year? LEGO, Scalextric or a Hornby railway?

Is it sad that i really want to buy and build one of these now... and the crane. That looks cool as well.

I can see some serious lego fun in the future.

Is the LEGO site the best place to buy these?

Shame it doesn't let you search for them in hardness or how many pieces?

Where else might?
I was at the Lego store in Westfields - West London last night. The Unimog is in stock @ £155, VW Camper is out of stock but due in today or later this week.

Unimog! I've made a lot of Lego in my younger years, and I haven't made any of the recent models before, but this one is pretty special!
