What a crock .
1700 kg
Hybrid tech and batteries that will be obsolete in no time at all
4wd
" only " 770 hp
How could you fall from the heights of the Carrera gt to this poop ? 90 bleeding mph , who gives a god damn ? You've just spent almost a million euros do they think a few mpg is going to kill the deal ? Who wants a hybrid Supercar ?
Short sighted madness .
I knew it would be crap when they showed me the cruise control .
No thanks , I'll get an f40 and a 959 and spend the change in stringies .
Only 770BHP?! It's 160BHP more than a CGT FFS. And where did you get 1700kg from? 1700 kg

As for the power , I'm not fussed but they need this to hold its own against the f70 and the big mac . Both of these are lighter and more powerful .
Don't even get me started on the 918(!) that they want to build of these things ...That's way too many for the current market .

it doesn't matter how much it costs or weighs or how many seconds you can only get full power for, id still by a Zonda
and if i could afford either i wouldn't care about the cost of fuel, it would still be cheaper than putting 4k a time of fuel in a 60 foot yacht (for those that have them)

I wonder how much more economical my car (or any car) would be if
- all the body panels were carbon fibre
- lightweight brakes, wheels
- lightweight exhaust, battery, sound insulation, interioir trim, seats, etc
If money were no object you could probably reduce the weight of any car by somewhere between 25 and 50%?

It's 1670Kg from here: http://www.gtspirit.com/2012/05/15/porsche-918-spy...The same page quotes 78mpg, but they are pansy American gallons.

I think the one surefire result of this car will be "Bye bye EC emissions/consumption tests as we know them." Although I see that as a good thing as real world mpg appears to becoming further and further detached from what we are being told as the cars begin engineered simply to pass an unrealistic test.

I think your being a bit harsh re the hybrid teck becoming obsolete, the drivetrain part which is the electric motors is already long established technology that has stood the test of time for quite a while now, i dont see it becoming obsolete that quickly.
The batteries could well do yes, but these will no doubt be interchangable like most batteries are, so really i dont see that as a big issue, any big breakthrough improvements in battery teck could no doubt make this car better as time goes on, extending the range even further
It looks interesting but the hybrid tech just seems like a compromise for political correctness. I'd imagine 200 of that 770hp is from the electric motors that will only be available for infrequent short bursts. Meaning most of the time you've got a car with less power and a lot more weight than the old CGT.
Also I don't know a lot (read: fk all) about aerodynamics but won't those top-exit exhausts stall the rear wing?

Clearly It's all about where you angle the flow. In fact, you can energise the rear wing to a greater extent using the exhaust gasses. Unfortunately it can produce a lot of drag with it (i.e. not very efficient).

I'm not so sure, i think it's as much down to wanting to have a unique selling point, especially if they want to sell a lot of them, prev ultra high end porsches have hardly been big sellers in the past, were as Ferrari shifted around a 1000 F40's and could easily have sold double the number of Enzo's that they did

I think the black and white colour scheme hides the lines of the car. Think it's stunning in a solid colour. There is a lot of awesome in this car and it's design.
Also, I recently found out Porsche bought/use the KERS design off the Williams F1 team.
Perhaps you are correct, but it doesn't look or act like a camo scheme to me, but more like a possible graphics package. Also, I recently found out Porsche bought/use the KERS design off the Williams F1 team.

How much is the enzo replacement rumoured to weigh? Any ideas on the mclaren?
Various places seem to say Ferrari are targeting 1000kg for the F70, although I wont believe that until I see a production model one on a set of scales. Similarly, the media seem to be reporting that Mclaren are targeting around 1200kg for the F1 replacement. Who knows how much truth there is in it though?

Yeah, Ferrari are ultra ruthless in having there cars portrayed in the best possible light, and seem to go to extremes others dont, so i wont beleive it either till i see an actual customer car there not expecting anyone to weigh, on a set of scales at 1000kgpeter450 said:

There's an evo vid/review of the test mule kicking about and he likes it iirc.
I can't remember if I've seen this video or not but if the "review" you're referring to is the one which Harry Metcalfe produced for evo mag - which was more of a preview I suppose - I seem to recall him being rather underwhelmed and unconvinced by the whole thing. Granted it was earlier on in the car's development...but not too long ago.I don't care enough to comment on the stats/figures but I do like the look of it - on a related note, those rear lights look almost like they're been lifted directly from the 991. Who said Porsche design was lazy...
