now that looks fun!
When the article said 208 bhp INCREASE I thought it must be a typo - that is a proper power hike! - I wonder if it has 80's style turbo lag or if they have done something clever to get around that? Variable vane turbo?
It has a Garrett 3171, but I can't find a turbo from Garrett with that designation. When the article said 208 bhp INCREASE I thought it must be a typo - that is a proper power hike! - I wonder if it has 80's style turbo lag or if they have done something clever to get around that? Possibly a typo, the GT3071R produces 500-550 peak in most 5/6 cylinder applications so it could well be that one.
Quite possibly. 500-550 would be with the larger laggy-er .86AR housing, but I suppose with a large capacity engine it will compensate. With peak torque at 6k rpm it seems reasonable to assume that.My T5 currently makes 450bhp and 480lbft with the smaller housing.

What's even the point? Noone would buy this. The "enthusiasts" who look past brand image are all poorfags anyway.
The door is over there. Fair enough having an opinion, but expressing it the way you did is frankly stupid. Prat. I think a fair amount of us would have, or at least be interested in, a quick car even if it had Perodua badges. Having driven a Polestar V60 conversion, with 330Bhp and 4wd haldex system, the grip levels are fantastic and as for turbo lag, with that engine......there isn't any, matched only by the shed loads of torque available.
Guess the S60 would be stonking with 500 odd horses!!!! the chassis is good.
Proper wolf in sheeps clothing in the right colour, or in your face electric blue. Your money, your choice!!
Yes I would.

Auto Express did a twin test of the V60 Polestar and an S4 Avant! worth a read!Guess the S60 would be stonking with 500 odd horses!!!! the chassis is good.

M3/C63 Rival

So many things dont seem to add up to make this possible..
I maybe bias as i have a passion for German cars but to be considered as an alternative it would need to be by far less expensive(Like Lexus used to be) for it to make any real impact,i do not think for a minute that the Germans would be worried about this car irrespective of a previous successfull Touring estate car in the 90's
For a start the interior will not rival the German brigade, the build quality is good no question about it but it will not be Audi-esque..and i very much doubt that it will have BMW finese either!
Me,my ideal car would be an M3 DCT with a C63 engine!

Volvo won't be looking for M/RS/AMG levels of sales initially anyway. One of the attractions of our V50 was that it wasn't one of the ubiquitous "executive" German offerings.M3/C63 Rival

Interesting opinion - have you been in a modern Volvo with the R-Design interior? IMO it's a much nicer place to sit than the equivalent BMW/Audi/Merc cabins.Me,my ideal car would be an M3 DCT with a C63 engine!

Echo this entirely. The dour, austere cabins of current German cars just put me off every time I get tempted by one. They're the reason why I currently drive a Jag, and why this, as an estate, would be on my shortlist for my next car (along with that possible XFR tourer). Yes, it would likely not shift in the numbers that the German equivalents would, but let the imagination-deficient hoardes continue to buy their German performance saloons in resale grey with black leather interiors. I'll have one of these in Polestar blue with red upholstery and cream accents on the inside please. Tedious grumblers be damned!
(I'd have been in the market for their C30 too - cracking performance in a reasonably practical package without the chavish connotations of an RS focus / Impreza Cosworth and without the dull, competent predictability of ze Germans.)
In summary, get on and make it, you bloody cocktease!

It really really isntNever in a million years will this thing be for sale as a full on production car.
If there is a really HOT version i bet it wont have more than 400hp,
thats a shame, because even with 400hp it would be enough to pinch some sales from the M3.
As much as I admire the dynamics of the M3 and the unbeatable blend of practicality and pace, it is a victim of its own success and buying an M3 is a total no brainer. Nowerdays it shows either a lack of imagaination or credible rivals, let the panel decide.. or they already have!
