Best Smoker Barges 1-5 large [Vol 4]
Discussion
Not exactly the cream of the crop just yet, but potential if there's decent condition and some recent servicing been done...

Fill it up, stick it in drive and go far, far away.

That's probably a bit strong, but it would be a brave purchase without knowing what "TLC" covers.
At a dealer it usually means it's got something so economically unviable to fix wrong with it that they'd rather use the "needs TLC" line that strikes fear into the heart of many a punter.Given many "mint" cars at traders are dogs, one can only imagine what a "needs TLC" car is.

Did those extras really cost £8K?
"...in the best colour..." Did those extras really cost £8K?
Words don't exist to describe how much that winds me up in car ads!

No nav so maybe not quite. All the things like sport steering wheel, sports suspension etc would have been separately specced back then, but it would have been much cheaper just to buy the Sport model instead when that was launched a year or so later.Did those extras really cost £8K?
Electric seats, leather, xenons would each have been over a grand and I bet the sunroof would have given little change from that figure. Probably £5-6k of options.
Doesn't have the sports seats though, which I think you really need if you are going to buy an E46.
Mine has quite a few options - leather, sports seats, sports steering wheel, sat nav, rain sensing wipers, headlamp washers, cruise control, and a few other things.
Does anyone have access to a price list for the E46 and options from 1998? Would be interesting to see how much my car cost when it was new

Anyone paying £5k or more for an (non M5) E39 of any flavour needs their head examining. Trade in prices offered to owners today are a massive kick in the spuds. Doubt the previous owner of the black one above got more than £3k from the dealer.
Well the one above is just what I am looking for but he says he wont come down a penny from £5k...Pity as I have the cash and no part X

To whoever it was that said it in the last volume, my spannerman does feel like a dog with two dicks yes. Having spent somewhere north of £20k on my 928 in the last 3 years I feel I've done my bit for the economy..

I'd always fancied a 928. Not any longerJoel

Make him an offer and let him know how to contact you when/if he changes his mind. It's a nice one but you'll find more nice ones for £5K, if he's got a definite offer then he might just be tempted if it ends up on his forecourt for more than a couple of weeks. Pity as I have the cash and no part X
A mate is considering an Audi Cabriolet, I was somewhat suprised to find one still for sale at a dealers at £3K that was there 12 months ago when I was looking for one.

It's 5k, not as if its 10k or something is it. Paying a grand over to get hold of a rare low miler isn't the end of the world and its not as if the market is full of 60k milers at 3k is it? That said paying sticker from a trader would seem odd.Edited by Fox- on Friday 22 June 16:22

......... We'd all love to buy the car at £3k trade, but sadly it's being at the right place at the right time!

It's Friday, I'm bored at work... it must be time for the Leftfield Barges Within 30 Miles Of Cheltenham Roundup!
Let's ease ourselves in gently with something uncontroversial. A nice, low-mileage Japanese Mercedes with the wrong title for the advert just sneaks in under thread budget.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
Right colour, right wheels, and apparently a folder of bills to substantiate the mileage. I like VERY much...
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
Or, for the same money, something which looks a lot newer (but perhaps less desirable). I'd want to see some evidence for those 100,000 miles, though.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
Not sure if I can really sneak this in as a barge, or even a mini-barge, but - I had never heard of the existence of these until finding this one. 3.5litre six in something the size of an E46 Compact - seems like a B3 rival that never quite made the grade? I don't even like Mercs much, as a rule, but the want is very strong with this one purely for oddity value.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
As far as smoker barges go, I'd call this a "desirable E60" - low mileage, one owner from new, and I bet even the tyres would please Mr Fox. (Just not the car to which they are attached).
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
Speaking of B3s, I know this is over budget, but Mother Hubbard! I need this in my life
