+1

Those look like those "dent magic" guys could repair them by pushing the panels from behind to make them flat again. If not then getting a few panels on a £14k car re-skinned won't write it off IMO.

There's a lot of "damage" but each mark is relatively minor - i.e. it's "cosmetic" and there's no structural damage behind as if it had been in a collision.

Currently dealing with this at the moment at work. Every man and his dog has a conservatory that has been damaged. LE10 Hinckley seems to be the worst hit.

^^ was thinking much the same myself, the dents that I can see on the GTR look pretty shallow to me.

They probably will, GTR paint is notoriously soft.
Shame mate, your car was lovely, hope they do not mess you around in resolving the matter, maybe time to invest in a car porch frown

that's not to say there's not a lot of labour in it, it will still be pricy enough

It'll be about whether the roof panel is wrecked presumably. Panels don't fit and paint themselves on their own either and you also have to consider the value of the car following extensive bodywork repair.

Gutted for you.

Had a similar experience with my last Mustang GT while it was in long term open parking at Alicante in 2009. The car was a 2007 vert. Whole of the left side was peppered, trunk had several large dinks and the hood was destroyed, most worryingly the A pillar was severely hit (I thought this would be impossible to repair). The only reason mine was not a write off was the fact that it was a convertible which took a lot of the shock and stopped the screens breaking. The rag top was intact. I picked up the car from the parking at about midnight ( I had been travelling for 12 hrs and was tired) and didn’t notice until I arrived at my villa and the floodlights lit the car up. Couldn’t believe the damage.

Unfortunately I also posted on the MOGCB and a regular poster on this site (and MOCGB) seemed to think it was a matter of amusement and joked about it on the forums ‘all hail the Mustang’ as I recall. furious An utter Tw*t and f*kwit.

Insurers were excellent (Lloyds es). Allowed me to have the car repaired at a garage of my choice in the UK. Surrey Mustang did what can only be described as an amazing job, hood (bonnet) was replaced and I was lucky to source one in the UK which had been an OEM take off . I took the opportunity to have a couple of body modifications added but the car was never the same. I traded it for another Mustang with full disclosure to the garage taking it in, although I got less for the car than I would have done without this event. Anyway it was hassle but turned out OK for me in the end.

I now use covered parking at Alicante- its worth the 20 euros extra per month!

That right, these days they'll use PDR - paintless dent removal, although a badly damaged car could take too long to do dent by dent.

I'm I right in saying that some people may not be insured for this?

Will fully comp cover this?

Gutted to see that GTR like that. Real scary stuff.

Anyone with Fully Comp insurance is fully covered for this. Anyone with TPF&T or TPO over isn't, hopefully for obvious reasons from the names of the cover.

What an awful day cars damaged all over Hinckley buildings damaged after hail the size of tennis balls struck. Anyone else on here in the same situation? Admiral the insurance company have said they have had calls all afternoon. Luckily I am covered under act of God but the state of the GTR brings a tear to my eye frown
WTF. The bit in bold is complete crap and I don't believe for one minute that an insurer has quoted "Act of God" at you, especially followed by you being covered.

There is no such thing, and no such exclusions on any motor policy in the UK

It stopped, it stopped a long time ago. In fact I don't know when it was ever excluded.

We will, of course, all be paying more for our insurance next year - this will be what they say is the reason - mind you how many thousand claims are the inscos going to get at, say 5K a pop?

And what with the weather patterns these days during our "summers" this can only get more common frown

Blimey that's pretty intense. In fact that is usually a sign of a supercell and possible tornado. Hope the car gets sorted.
Yep I agree re supercell, day turned into night just like that.

As for the car,wow really a write off !!!

As for the hail,I wouldn't have enjoyed being hit on the head by one of them.

I's unlikely to impact premiums much. The weather was very localised (into three or four heavily populated areas), it's not comparable to a national weather event like the snow of a few years back. Both of those pale into almost insignificance with the BAU injury claims issue anyway.

Yeah, lots of people I know in Leicester didn't even know about it.

Saying that, Syston was pretty badly hit frown

No such thing as AoG. Hasn't been for years.

It's 'Force Majuere' nowadays.

It's a sensible clause to protect a company from a blind side wipeout but obviously it is now used to stop as many payouts as possible.

To be honest it should be defined by the regulator as a series of incidents that would collapse the firm not ever cover one off events.

This is really fked up, I didn't know we had hail that big in the UK. Can you imagine how much damage that would cause if it hit the Goodwood Festival of Speed? The insurers would have to fold.

Was anyone hurt?

It's a bit of hail. Do you really think that multi-nationals covering £100billions of risk will fold on the back of a few extra claims.

Naive.

Surely used to those weather conditions in Aberdeen?! I lived there for a year. Great city and I really enjoyed my time there, but weather often pretty poor.
Wet and misty most of the time living so close to the shore line. But again, last week sunbathing in the garden, but we can't all have all ways, at least out of town, no traffic to worry about.
