RE: PH Blog: "If you see SID..."
Discussion
SID is alive but not well for its years in the rain.
Was re0united with Richard Hurdwell last week and is headed to Hethel for the "Lotus remebered" group meeting.
Hopefully widen the knowledge pool and fill some of the gaps in.
Aim is that "SID rides again" but may start with "If you see SID . . ." and parody the ads.

Slightly O/T; I miss those days when PH didn’t just have articles on the latest Porsche/ Bling/electric/ restomod.
Something slightly controversial but us car geeks also get information from.
If you go on Autocar/TopGear/PH, they all have the same car’s featured.
Yes I know it’s ‘free’, but it was free back in 2012 also.
Anyway, rant over. As you were.

Great point, the press release churn on PH is much higher than it used to be, and the only other articles seem to be ones designed to get folk to click through to the classifieds or auctions.Something slightly controversial but us car geeks also get information from.

OK, maybe we get a ‘readers rides’ thing, but they are rare. Stuff like this Lotus article almost never happens.
I get the commercial imperative to get people to use the classifieds etc., but the main reason PH became the place it did is because of the forums and the enthusiast content surrounding it.
Basically, not providing unique content and just gritting teeth when paying the forum hosting/support costs while hoping it kinda goes away means PH is what, Auto Express with more grammatical errors?
A very interesting car on the way to SID didn’t sell in Monterey car week.
Lotus (well, GM) bought two 300bhp Peugeot 205 T16 ClubSport cars to develop active suspension and four wheel steer. One was the ‘control’ car, the other was the one that was adapted to do the test work. After it did its job, it sat in the GM museum.

A lot of those pieces were possible though because the community was generally nicer and receptive to folks who actually knew their stuff. Yeah there was still piss taking and banter. OK, maybe we get a ‘readers rides’ thing, but they are rare. Stuff like this Lotus article almost never happens.

Now, it's stuffed full of more aholes than an American hotdog. Hence folks tend not to bother writing them.
