I'm sure someone on the previous page inferred that a Crossfire is a great car.
I presume they are a Chinese peasant who's previous transport was an oxygen and cart?
This car is great. Just as Tony Soprano is a benign waste management operator.

Pretty sure it's sub 5sHe's quite knoweledgable in most car things and his best guess was late 5's to 60.

I think that is horrendous, but then I hate all things American
This is a spectacularly crass comment. Why would somebody hate something, based purely on its geographical origin? They're over-rated in some respects and vastly under-rated in others. I had 3 very satisfying years of SRT-8 ownership, but when mine rolled 85000 miles I figured it was best to get out of it before expensive stuff started wearing out.
In my ownership all it needed was a significant amount of premium fuel, oil change every 5k miles (self) 2 sets of brake pads (self), warranty replacement front strut ($970), warranty replacement transmission control unit ($700) trans-flush ($170) and a replacement battery ($180).
Mine was stock, except for the exhaust, Strange Eng half-shafts and had a Predator ECU and TCU mod.
With Nitto semi-drag radials @8psi, egg-cup full of fuel and air cleaner removed, it would run 11.8 quarter and read-off 0-60mph in 4.10 sec.
Can't do that with a V8 M5.
New owner has installed a Procharger blower and is claiming more than 550whp - I haven't seen his dyno-sheet, but I don't doubt it. 'Stout' is a very appropriate descriptor for the drivetrain in these cars.

I had a test drive in an identical car a while back. Dont know if it was the auto or not but felt a lot slower than the figures suggest. Didn't sound particularly good either on the stock exhaust when just bumbling about. Definately would have to factor in an exhuast upgrade....and a supercharger!
Having just sold my SRT-8 touring, which incidentally was in black and on a 07 plate just like the one in the pic, I feel that I am able to make a few informed comments....... I bought in on 'impulse' last December, hoping my Mrs would take to it as the new 'family' car but alas it wasn't to be... she hated it simply because it was too big and drank too much fuel. I on the other hand enjoyed it as it was a type of car I'd always wanted (big yank V8). On balance, I was happy to see it go, but only because it was my 4th car and the combined running costs were starting to become a tad uncomfortable. Good points were: 1) Totally unique - both in terms of looks and ownership appeal 2) Unquestionable road presence, particularly in SRT8 guise 3) Unquestionable performance - in a straight line! 4) Simple mechanicals - less worry of big bills. Bad points were: 1) Fuel economy - whilst not poor in relation to other similar cars e.g. RS4/M5 - was painful 2) It was simply too big to hustle, hence I didn't really enjoy driving it. What really did it was the inevitable direct comparison with my daily hack - a Mitubishi Legnum VR4. The VR4 cost me £2k to buy as oppose to £10k and depreciation has bottomed unlike with the SRT8, the VR4 was almost as fast up to 100 at least, it could be enjoyed in the twisties too, 4wd for winter, bigger boot and since I've got two dogs I don't mind getting the VR4 dirty, unlike the leather interior in the SRT8 etc etc. After a few months the SRT8 just sat on the drive and I used the VR4 as it was more fun. BUT, after all is said and done, I'm glad I've experienced it.

The Grand Cherokee's party piece was its ability to launch of the line like a scalded cat (4wd), but it was never quite as butch in the mid range as you'd expect. Never bothered with it myself but the Borla pipes (see youtube) makes a massive difference...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
