If I had that sort of cash though (even though this might be more hard core) I'd take the 458 Italia.
I'll keep dreaming
Thats the issue. I think most would. I've heard a few people say "Oh I'd love a 458Italia" never heard "Oh I'd love a MP4-12C"...I'll keep dreaming
I'd rather have a 12c.
Especially in met' black, with silver wheels, red calipers; black cabin, red stitching, Alcantara option and - because every tt with a Corsa etc and a roll of real carbonfibre wrap has devalued the 'black weave' - I'll have ally trim
Some days ago, I was actually driving down the road from Ronda to San Pedro de Alcántara, when I was passed by two McLaren 12C Spider, one in yellow and one in orange. Now I know who was driving one of them! The cars sounded better than I expected, although I would still have a 458 Spider over a 12C. By the way, the road from Ronda to San Pedro de Alcántara is by far my favorite of all the roads around here, but for those of you who enjoy playing with your 'toys' in this road, beaware of the Guardia Civil! I have been stopped several times with my R1 ZCars Mini, as well as with my bike powered MK Indy.

Chris I like your videos, but as the others have said you need to improve the audio aspect of your videos. While I am sure there are guys who know alot more about this than I do I think you need to invest in a 'dead cat' to reduce wind noise. I know you guys don't want to stretch to a spotty teenager holding a mic...
So as an idea for the future maybe you should go to EA or Polyphony Digital who did the GrandTurismo games on Playstation or another similar game company. There are some tricks that they use that could help you translate what you experience effectivly to the chumps at home.
Would be easier just to have a chat with Nigel - see belowSo as an idea for the future maybe you should go to EA or Polyphony Digital who did the GrandTurismo games on Playstation or another similar game company. Spider is the Monaco hairdresser's version. Serious drivers will always want a roof.
That may have been true with traditional convertibles but not with cars like this of the 458 IMO.Carbon tub means no chassis flex and the hard folding roof makes it as secure and cossetting as the regular car.
The performance between the two you would need a stopwatch to tell the difference and certainly won't notice the difference on the road.
I especially love the feature on this and the 458 that allows the glass back window to be dropped even when the roof is in place.
Easy to see why 80%+ sold will be spiders as its effectively 2 cars in one.

I don't get the point about serious drivers wanting a roof. Sure, you may get more rigidity (but as already pointed out, and said in the video, there is no change with the 12C) but you are also detached from the surroundings more. An open car connects the driver in so many additional ways. If you lose a few percent at the limit, which is probably way above what is safe on almost any road, does that really matter for the other sensations you gain? Not in my opinion.marctwo said:

Convertibles are for sissies.
I take it he's never driven a TVR then? For me, amongst car enthusiasts at least, the coupe is the posers' version because many people seem to think other people will look at them and say "ooh he's driving a coupe, he must be a 'proper' driving enthusiast".
Many cabriolets are significantly less stiff and/or heavier than their coupe counterparts, but equally many are not.

I stand corrected!
