+1, I really like this. I have to take my hat off to you on this one Audi. Mkae vehicles lke this, not those foolish sportback things.

You've missed the point, smartar$e.I imagine most anyone can by some means get their hands on a 240PS Ford EcoBoost engine and tune it, as I imagine Radical and some others do.
However, that's a world of difference from being able to buy a Ford-developed, tuned EcoBoost, as would be the case with a ~300 horsepower Ford RS spec engine, with associated to Ford standards durability and so on.

PS the next Ford Focus RS, due around 2014/15, will get a development of the current 2 litre EcoBoost engine, bored out to 2.3 litres capacity, and will also go in the next Ford Mustang - the one the three old men on Top Gear mocked - and will produce up to 350 horsepower. Just too bad it won't be available to the Evoque - as it's a FORD engine.
One wouldn't want to suggest that Radical produce an unreliable engine, now, would one?
And yes, you're right - why would Ford allow Landrover to use a Ford engine? I mean, it's not as if they have any history of that, is there?

Ford engines are used in numerous production vehicles and you are misguided if you think they are not endorsed by Ford themselves. Ginetta, Caterham and Radical being just a few of the sports car manufacturers that utilise their engines, with an aftermarket tweek here and there. Crate motors bought from Ford themselves.
What would be a cogent argument, would be; will Ford allow their halo engine in the performance ecoboost frame be used by another manufacturer. I suspect not, but a lower performance or detuned version, quite possibly. The market a performance Evoque would be pitched at would be very different from a Kuga RS or anything similar Ford may have a vague nation of building, so may actually be an opportunity to prove their engine in a completely different platform/segment.

Their "launch a sell out halo model, and offer replica bodykits wheels and badges on base model diesels" product model has worked fantastically well from a fiscal stand point.
I'm sure I read last year that Audi were going to release a Q3 with the Biturbo diesel, producing 309bhp, which would be quite a beast (5.1 secs to 60 or something).
I can't help thinking that engine would suit this better and they could leave the petrol engines at full power in the TT etc.
