I wish him all the best with it, it's really exciting that it looks like TVR has a future & many thought that would never happen again, I will be following with interest.

He speaks very highly of JLR, so it's possible he may approach them for a supply of powertrains.
Unless JLR are really desperate for some cash, why would they sell powertrains to a direct competitor for their F type??

As far as i can tell, when talking about "sports cars":

<£30k
Ultimate perf: kit cars (Westies etc)
Everyday perf: MX5, GT86

£30k - £50K
Ultimate Perf: Caterham, Atom, Elise
Everyday perf: Cayman, 370z,

£50k - £80k
Ultimate perf: Radical, Exige
Everyday perf: too many to list (M3, Entry 911, etc)

£80k - £120k
Ultimate Perf: Mono
Everyday Perf: V8Vantage, 911 turbo, Masa etc

£120k - £200k
Ultimate Perf: 911 GT3 - 2wd lambo
Everyday Perf: 458, 4c, Aventador

>£200K
Ultimate Perf: Noble M600, P1, La Ferrari, Hennessy Exige
Everyday Perf: Aventador, KoniEgg,

So few gaps, maybe in the Ultimate perf sector at £80k to £120k. But, will someone pay that sort of money for a "basic" performance car?? (i.e. few driver aids, low tech components etc)

Now that's a man i'd like to do business with.

Sod the touchy feely don't-want-to-upset-anyone-by-saying-the-wrong-thing crap that most car makers spout out. Straight to the point, no gumpf. I can't imagine many power point presentations will take place at TVR now.

Let's knuckle down and crack out a TVR for the future.

I can't wait to see how this develops.

Did you read a different interview to the rest of us?

Personally I think there still is a market for the Tuscan and Sagaris.

In any case good luck to the new chap.

Positive news for once.

Unfortunately, between those extremes lies a very difficult, and crowded, market place. The mainstream cars are now so fast
I wouldn't say you're looking at that crowded a market. Only things I can think of are american muscle like that new Camaro.
£30-£60k, cheap body, off the shelf engine.

It ain't going to be sub £50k! Think about it, if a decent spec Caterham or Exige, on which the R&D has been amortised years ago is that sort of money, then a competely new car is going to be more expensive. How much is an Evora? Surely the closest match (£60K?) and they are hardly flying off the shelves, and they borrow a lot of stuff from the already exisiting Lotus platforms to keep costs down.

Second owner that had a TVR and then bought the company - guess that's what he means by dna.

The first did a pretty good job IMHO, hope the new boy does good too!

All the interviews in the world don't really mean very much at all - he should only be judged on the end product.

We'll all just have to wait and see - nothing more to it than that I'm afraid!

I think this is one of his old cars.

And he says he's had TVRs before.
Sounds more promising than the rest of the BS that has surfaced over the past few years.

I'll stick my neck out and stake my claim - my guess is a Griffith-a-like may be near the top of the production list.
tongue out

Good luck TVR.

The best thing about this new venture is the possibility of leaving behind a faction of the so called die-hard TVR fans who can't fathom change and prefer a car with 'personality' - that is something that spends more time being worked on than being driven on the road.

Onward march! New names, new cars, new engines, new interiors, same bonkers ethos!

I really wish people would stop being so negative. How about we wait and see what he does and judge then.
To me it sounds very promising with the new owner genuinely caring about the brand and its fan base.
yes I agree.

Interesting interview. Not mentioning which TVR's he has owned is quite right. Being an enthusiasts marque we would also be speculating that he would style the nes cars like the ones he liked.

I would bet a substantial sum they have all the jigs and fittings from Da Rushian.
There would be no reason to have disposed of them. Not worth anything as scrap but worth much more when selling the compan ybecause of the future revenue from spares. Producing spares is also valuable for the seller because of the good will earned and extended customer loyality of keeping the bikes on the road.

Shame the Sagaris will not be resurected.

Some TVR styling was dubious. The filled in slats in the Sagaris nose because they threw up stones. Side exit exhausts. Sexy but impractical.

Sounds like a top bloke. Hope it goes well, cannot wait for the next update.

Thought there was a thread on here a while back saying the jigs etc had been scrapped.
