Agreed. Good luck Webber. You're better off out of that circus they call F1.

The only thing I can't understand is how he managed to stop himself from ttting that petulant little german st. Time enough yet before the end of the season.
I can see SV "sleeping with the lights on" for he rest of the season!

This is good news as I am just getting into GT racing - this was the first year I had tried to properly follow Le Mans, but do Red Bull really want 2 stroppy drivers? Both Vettel and Kimi would be wanting to do their own thing and the sulking would be unbearable!

Fantastic news! In fact it's a treble whammy:

1. He can discreetly return Vettel's many favours - or at least make him distinctly uncomfortable for the rest of the year.
2. Marks genuine talent might actually be better suited to sportscar racing and LeMans.
3. He's a Porsche owner / fellow enthusiast and will make a great brand ambassador!

I have been eagerly awaiting this news since April when the early story broke cover. So a great day now it has been confirmed. Roll on 2014 with the WEC, Le Man, Porsche and Mark Webber.....wow what a prospect.

I don’t rate Vettel and I certainly never rated Webber. Webber is a midfield driver – always has been. Vettel is a good driver but not a world class driver in the same league as Alonso or Hamilton. The only reason Vettel has looked so dominant in the past 3 years is the superiority of the RB and Webbers mediocre driving making him look good.

When RB bought Jaguar none of the big name drivers wanted to know because Jaguar was a basket case and they had no idea what RB would transform it into. RB had Vettel through their academy so needed a number 2. Webber had previous connections with Jaguar and was in the right place at the right time. Since then he has been riding the Newey/RB wave pretending he is a world class driver able to challenge for the world championship. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I genuinely believe if you put Alonso or Hamilton in an RB they would destroy Vettel and since Vettel largely destroyed Webber over the past 3 years where does that leave his legacy?
Not sure if trolling or serious....

Much better move for Mark. Really pleased he's making the move, should make the rest of the season in F1 a lot more interesting.

Well done Mark!!

RB is a sickly sweet fizzy drink that makes teenages even more stroppier than normal for fek sake.

Porsche on the other hand is one of the worlds top car makers!

Who would you want to work for?

I myself, like many other PH'ers go to Le Mans every year, but never been to an F1, so for me this is great news!

As Graham Goodwin would say, thank you FIA for giving us F1, a great feeder series to the WEC.

Best of luck to him.

I'll be interested to see who takes his spot at RB and how they compete against Vettel biggrin

The thing is, I have turned my mind to this and had a bit of an epiphany - I really couldn't care less. It has only just dawned on me how low my interest in Formula One has actually sunk of late (though I am aware I am in a minority). Hey ho, onwards an upwards.

I'll think you'll find that it is slowly becoming a larger minority...it certainly is for me anyway.

...and I missed watching Le Mans this year furious

What a top man Webber really is..... non of the foot stamping, spoilt child pretense we see (or dont get to) of certain 'number 1' team drivers. Just a proper PH, rolls up sleeves and gets on with the job. Possibly the racer driver version of Paul Scholes.

Good man Mark, have fun at Porsche and dont forget to give the middle finger salute on the way out of Red Bull
+1 what he said. Great move - out of the Pirhana Pool and back to civilised racing...

Watch yer back Vettel...Kimi is on his way (assuming he is awake)...smokin

Same here. No innovation, no new tech. More rules, regulations - it's just another formula. The opening wing overtaking thing was the final straw for me - and that was before the silly tyres came out.

Obviously trolling, he's implying that Hamilton's a good driver.

biggrin Hamilton barely pipped Massa to the championship, both nice guys but hardly in Alonso's class.

Good luck to him, but it is a shame to lose a straight talking driver - I always liked to see him interviewed.
