I gotta say I'm coming round to the Eclat - I even nearly bid on a silver Elite that had a V8 conversion on ebay a couple of months back. Very Space 1999/UFO Commander Straker!
You rang?Heroic motors for sure.
I don't have the cohunes for them as a daily, but I guess I'm not alone there...

There is one black LHD 420 SEAC as far as I know of. I was parked up next to it at TVR Mania at Brands Hatch many moons ago. I'll see if I can find the picture....
If my memory is not playing tricks on me, there was a green LHD auto there that day too.Edited by 350Wedge on Thursday 24th October 17:55
I had two 350s then a gap before getting the 450SE which I've now had 17 years. It's cost me a lot in that time (mainly due to the amount of track use it got in the early years of me having it) and it still doesn't look as smart as most of the ones people have posted pictures of. However, as most in the TVRCC know, it's a well used car and it still makes me (and Shell Petrol Executives) smile when I use it

I had a 400 se white one when I was younger and this is what I remember:-
The handling is st, I nearly hit a lamp post n the first week of ownership. Did someone mention lotus having something to do with the chassis ! My old Westfield megablade would eat it for breakfast.
The sound is the absolute dogs dangly bits, you cannot beat a v8 rumble. Awesome.
Official power outputs. When they say 300 hp , I would deduct 100 hp, I had my engine at torque developments for months,
They built a bespoke stainless steel exhaust system, a special head unit after trying lots of different designs. A few other things that I cannot remember , put the car on the dyno and it was still way short of the official power output that tvr claimed.
It gets very hot inside the car when driving it, my pants left a imprint on my white leather seats! And no I did not crap myself.
Flames are great , I love big flames from the exhaust.
Overall I loved the look and the noise best , a Arab in a supercar even said nice car! near bay's water once. But it is not a giant slayer, it will kill you if you are not careful, and it is not very well built.

Seventeen ( or is it eighteen?) years and two wedges later, I still haven't found anything I'd replace my Wedge with. I tried an Esprit (and anyone who thinks a TVR Wedge is tiny should try and get their leg over in one of those for comparison ) and whilst a better-handling car, it just didn't have the flying jacket and goggles, load the machine guns, take out the enemy and back for breakfast and medals sense of occasion that the TVR does.
It's a 4-wheeled motorcycle, how's that for a comparison. An excess of enthusiasm over ability wrapped in a GRP great white sharkskin

I've never really thought the TVR wedge's nose was right. It reminds me of the noses of old Dodge Daytonas and Plymouth Superbirds, like it was added on after the car was complete. An Esprit's front end, otoh, to me, looks perfect.
I am envious of that bolded part, though.

Have to agree with the handling comment, my 350i was pretty bad. In fact the S2 I had after felt like an Elise as a comparison. However, the wedge had something about it, probably the noise that makes them special The handling is st, I nearly hit a lamp post n the first week of ownership. Truly my sort of car. As a teenager in the mid-eighties, all I ever wanted was a Lotus Esprit turbo - mainly for it's looks - but when I finally got a ride in one it just didn't feel special. 4 pots rarely do. TVR build cars how I like them to be built. Quality control aside, they're loud, brash, no-nonsense driving machines. Although I understand you can get a Rover V8 sub-frame for the Lotus....
... oh, and tunnels. TVR's and tunnels )

If Ace Rimmer had a car, it would be a wedge

So a question to those who have/had one (talking 350i here). What are the big issues with these? And how much do you need to set aside for a years maintenance?
Hmm, hard to say for me as I got a true Friday afternoon Wedge. Two radiators, three ignition systems and sooo much more. She spent around 7 months off the road in a year, going so far as to be returned to me after three weeks off the road and promptly having the passenger window just drop into the door...... Back to the garage......I believe I spent around 2-3k that year on her in repairs/fixings alone.
But if you get a good one, just the usual stuff.
They are still just incredible machines in looks and sounds.

Surprised - I can't remember every pushing my 2 * 350i that much but the handling I always found was fine. The 450SE was very controllable even before I upgrade bits. Having done 60 odd trackdays in mine, there's 'nowt wrong with the handling at all when set up properly. 450SE vs a Nissan 200SX that I had for a while.....well, I know which one handles better and is least likely to put off the road.cirks said:

I could get seasick if I drove mine enough (never got a chance mind as she would break down long before that!)... But I came from an S to a Wedge which may not have helped. But even my Chimaera I exchanged the Wedge for felt so much more planted - and she is pretty poor in comparison to my current Chimaera...
But I've no doubt a decent chap could set up the shocks well enough for handling.
