That looks absolutely sensational. The epitome of function over form having the rear extended. The 360 lights are a bit funky, some tweaks to take it totally back to period would make it perfect.
That's the only Ferrari I actually want right now, I'm off to the classified to fantasy shop 348s...
http://youtu.be/GH2uwjk3fqM Surely this is more in the spirit, except it doesn't have popup headlights ?

Is it just me that finds it slightly disappointing that PH news seems to be running 8 days behind Jalopnik / Carscoops
And three years behind, errr, Pistonheads: http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=180&i=229...But in all seriousness we're always aiming to be as responsive to new and interesting stuff as soon as everyone else but it isn't always possible. We still thought this warranted your attention a few days (years?!) later. There is plenty of fresh stuff coming soon, don't worry!

I would think that'd be to help calibrate the traction control - film a hard launch on a high speed camera and you can see exactly how quickly the wheels are rotating etc.
shame a high speed camera wasn't about back then to do it!For those who are interested in such nerdy stuff, those film cameras had to be pumped-down to near-vacuum, as the high rotational speeds involved would otherwise lead to combustion of the film due to the rapid passage through the air...
