Just look at the first 4 images on this thread-all great looking cars with great looking wheels.

It's just you can't bloody see them!

Not a fan of black wheels usually, but think all black works well on the Maserati GranTurismo:

Hmm, the Silver Clio and the XKR seem to pull it off because they're already silver. Not sure I would have them in black wheels though. Everything else so far, nope.
What about the compromise shadow chrome / gun metal ?

The Maserati looks good, but then it is a FINE looking car in the first place. Whether it is improved by the black wheels is another question.

The Golf does nothing for me.

Mine came with them as standard (Lightening Yellow spec). I am changing them to a set of black trackday wheels:

I think any other colour wheels would look (even more) silly against the yellow and the black AP brake calipers

Silver looks really classy, black looks, sorry, rather chav... doesn't do the car any favours, making it look heavier and saggy.

The black steel wheels on my Mondeo are smoking hot, in an unmarked-copper-chic kind of way.

Every post so far has, in my opinion, been evidence that the answer is yes. All cars look worse with black wheels.

One of the first changes I made. As the guy who fitted my engine said "looks like it's floating"

I like black steel wheels. The missus hates them so I had to buy trims. The 18's are in the loft, I hate the way they ride, the missus loves the way they look. I told her the drive is the deal. She couldn't stand walking up to the car so I caved in and got trims... Wanna spray em black though!

I think almost every photo shows cars looking well on black wheels.

Motorbikes have always looked good on black wheels.

silver wheels have been the standard for 40 years. I think most of us are bored of them (I have a 911 which is silver and has silver wheels - I don't think a change in colour of them would help but they're still boring wheels)

Noice.

Love the NASCAR look.

Just as a counterpoint, here's my old Eliminator on the factory silver wheels so people can see the difference.
