4 pages and no one has made the 'joke' about throwing this monkfish-on-wheels back into the river?

Would you use a Bentley for that?
Your still thinking like someone cares about the cost of this.

For the multi millionaire/billionaire who likes to fly fish the odd weekend having this parked at the Scottish gaf doing nothing but rust for 48 weeks a year is irrelevant.
They simply wouldn't use it for that. They'd have a shagged ol' pickup or Landy that gets used for that, maybe a quad or tractor. With somebody else driving it.

At the end of the day, this is a quarter-of-a-million-quid Q7 with a bait box in the boot.

This is the problem with this special edition. The sort of people who could afford it have a ghillie to choose their flies, and wouldn't know what to do with a pin vice if it was shoved up their arses. They'll arrive in the area by chopper, go to the river in a manky Land Rover with some incomprehensible Scottish bloke driving it and fail to catch anything, which is all part of the charm.

The base car may or may not be a fine machine (i.m.o it is nowhere near spectacular enough for £160K), but this is just an advertising platform to say "we can build whatever daft st you want in the boot for an extra 80k".

... I confess I've actually got a Bentayga
Congratulations on your purchase! - it's nice to hear from someone that actually owns one. While I too have some doubts about the aesthetics, that is of course very subjective, and does not take away from the fact that it appears to be a seriously impressive motor car.

Would love to hear some more on what it's like to live with on a day to day basis, how it stacks up against the competition, niggles/joys, etc - I think it would make a great addition to the 'Readers' Cars' forum!

It will sell to the new money.

The old money will still use an old and slightly rusty Defender.

Which is why manufacturers don't give a st what "old money" thinks.

Plus, of course, there's a lot more new money than old.

Indeed - the main function of the concept of "old money" is to maintain some perception of social superiority when you aren't actually all that rich anymore.

I know looks are subjective etc.
But I certainly get the distinct impression that on the whole the look of the thing is derided.

I don't give a monkey's nut whether old or new money buy one, live and let live etc, I don't actually care whether they're charging £80k for some leather lined tackle boxes, I just wish whoever was/is in charge with Bentley's exterior aesthetics department would get a grip. There is no excuse for ugly, regardless of the demographic you're aiming at.

Not sure that they will have many fish transported in them. A lot of them are released now, and when they do keep the odd salmon a lot of them will send it straight off to be cold smoked.

Its not very often that I feel compelled to post on forums but in this case I need to do so. Bentley used to be a revered name in motoring circles but it seems that they are at risk of becoming just a laughing stock with this creation. In `standard` form the vehicle`s styling is revolting ( unfortunately I have seen a few overtake me on the M6) and I cannot imagine who in their right mind signed off the styling having looked at it and thought `yes that`s right and its as good as we can do`. Perhaps they are catering to the people with money and no taste but that is no excuse for this.

I'm amazed that some people have the time/money/inclination to think 'Yes a vastly expensive W12 608bhp Bentley is exactly what I need for fishing' rofl
I'm amazed the manufacturers have taken so long to realise that there is a section of the market that will pay absolutely anything for something special. Overfinch Range Rovers, the Lynx Eventer, the Brabus G Wagen (before AMG took notice and made the G55), Bentley Val D'Isere Shooting Brake, Aston Martin Lagonda Shooting Brake, Monteverdi Safari, various tuners hotting up the original
Hemi Jeep Cherokee Chief/ Grand Wagoneer, and many, many more have noticed this niche. It's always been there, but most of the potential buyers have bought a car far cheaper than they would be prepared to pay, IE whatever the most powerful petrol Range Rover or G Wagen available is. Well done Bentley. The car is by far the most desirable in this category - if you want a proper off roader, Toyota still makes the 70 series Land Cruiser, but you will need to import one, and that's the most desirable in its category. I imagine there are a fair few people who will own a 70 Series and a Bentayga, for very different sorts of shooting, in very different continents.
