RE: Aston Martin DB11: Review
Discussion
There was a white one at a clasic car meet near Northampton on Wednesday, which did not have a badge, and was still wearing some of the 'camouflage' wrap. I thought it was gorgeous.
Supprisingly, very few people seemed to pay it much attention, or even know what it was .

...This new DB11 is the first "high-volume" Aston since the DB2/4 I don't care for at all!
Sorry but I've got to pick you up on that. Are seriously saying the DB7 was not built in volume? Went down the Aston route twice but was disappointed. Got to admire Aston though, they are still going their own way and churning out these front-engined leviathans! I think it's going to be just like the previous gen cars; too wide too heavy and too thirstly. Shame as another missed British opportunity. (Q what happened to the Merc engines....?)

Dubenot rosso(?) suits that car so beuatifully!! BIG fan of it!!

It has the AMG Merc engine, and it's supposed to be a GT, not a nimble little Lotus competitor so job done.It must be me, but it looks like every AM for the last 1000 years.
EPAS, turbo, and 1800kg.
You know what? The GTR, 503bhp Alfa, and even an old Litchfield Subaru Type 20 are all the same (or better) in acceleration, and yet cost significantly less.
Seriously, when are w going to see something revolutionary? They just keep churning out the same old same old. Meh. Even a Tesla is about twice as interesting (ludicrous) as this, not for its game-changing approach, but for its outright pace. I fear AM and others will get left even further behind if they refuse to innovate.

You do realise it's a GT not a sports- (or super-) car? It only needs enough power and torque to be "effortless" on the motorway. Edited by kambites on Friday 5th August 15:07
Firstly I think that is the best video review yet from Dan. Geek info and nicely paced without the Woooaaaaoohmatron sort of thing.
This new DB11 is impressing me over time too, slow burner.
When I first saw it I thought, just another rehash, but closer looks at the styling and it is a big move on from the last few years. That matches well with the new under pinnings
Aston Martin now have done a turbo engine that matches an NA engine most of the time, just like Ferrari have done with the 488 with V8 rather than V12. Ok, never being as good, but it shows Aston are up there in this new world, turbo engine wise. And it's only doing 117bhp per litre, remap ?
This seems to fill the GT tourer perfectly, far more so than the Ferrari FWD thingy, unless you have sprogs.

Looks very nice but I wish that Aston Martin would push the boat out more when designing cars.
They can't win then can they? Buckets of complaints on threads in PH that Aston Martin/Porsche/whoever aren't deviating enough away enough from the 'old style' cars and just as many who say 'it doesn't look like an Aston Martin/Porsche/whoever'should.I think it's a great evolution of the classic modern Aston style and it looks like they've updated almost everything mechanical (except the gearbox?) or electrical.
I won't probably ever be in a position to buy one, but if I was, I certainly would. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc etc.
