I really wish I hadn't seen this thread.

I've recently acquired a 306 GTi to enjoy through the winter as I deem my 205 to nice to have to deal with our poor winter roads. This has led me not just to looking at steal wheels and winter tyres but then as my mind wanders to the possibility of retro fitting heated seats, making it my ultimate winter hot hatch. From this my mind has now wandered onto a winter European road trip....

Anyone else love steel rims? Everyone I know thought I was mad for not ordering alloys for my Defender when I bought it, but just love the look of them on steel rims. I've also just put my M140i on steel winters and love the look. Much of it is down to the 'dish' that steel rims have. I always thought mini coopers, MGBs, old Mercs and many others look better on steel rims. So - share the steel love and show us your rims.

Here's mine

Citroen C5 Steelies on the Minor. These are actually alloys
My MGF has an unusual PCD ( I think that's the term for the bolt holes) inherited from BL and beyond. I've seen minors with MGF wheels.

I fancy Steel wheels on my F - 15 or 16 inch. Would Citroen ones fit?

I believe they are an 'official' winter wheel set up on the X1 from BMW...

There's loads on Ebay that look like that but all are described as 'steel' - are they a direct bolt-on for your Morris? If so, they should fit my Riley as the PCD is the same.

Love steels. The 1 series looks great. But then I've been running these since I bought the Clio in May. I took the alloys off to get refurbed but might aswell carry on over winter now!

edit - anyone recommend some reasonable priced winter tyres in 215/45 17W?

Any pics of JCW Mini's? (BMW version) Not with thin winter steelies but matching the width of the OE alloy.

No, mine has 4 stud 109pcd Ford hubs. This allows me to also fit some 4 stud Citroen, Peugeot, Saab, Alfa, Audi and Porsche rims on a close to 0ET. My 15x6 rims are 18ET, alloy and weigh 4.76kg.

Tread carefully as there aren't many options for the minor with standard 4" (101.6) PCD and you really don't want to fit 100mm with "wobbly" bolts. In the Minor world Marina upgrades were common (less so now) and some of these (vans were different) are the same PCD as MGF.

I'm a relatively lanky fella at 6ft4 and still manage to fit in the GT fairly easily. Have you tried one on for size ?
