I see this as being an upmarket GT86 rather than a Boxter alternative, there is a real gap in the market here that Renault could exploit if at a sensible price point.

Performance, dynamics & drivetrain of say the Megane Trophy but in a small lightweight 1000kg RWD coupe ... Bingo !!

I like your thinking, and I'd actually buy that.
This car will be in Boxster price territory though, so much drivel on ph about x,y & z and oh, make it at 25k. MX5 is a great sports car at affordable price, celebrate that. Otherwise 25-30k gets you a hot hatch and the associated dynamic compromises. Purity costs. I hope it's not a 4c let down though.

When are they doing an A310 replacement?

Thing is... these aren't likely to be anyone's primary transport. For 55k euros/ £42k you could get an original A110. If I had that sort of money, that's what I'd do. Different target market etc. etc. but nonetheless...
You sure? Cheapest on carandclassic is £55k and it's a 1300.

Can't wait for it to arrive in the showrooms, I think it looks good, like the interior, if it has the right power it'll be a winner!

I think of the renault wind when i see this fking monstrosity.

I can never understand this line of thought - why ever hope someone (or a company) fails?

I may not like a particular car, or feel indifferent to a particular car, or hate a particular car; I never hope that the maker (or model) fails, though.

Good God, it looks hideous. Proportions all wrong.
Just like the original - it looks fabulous.
Good.
If half the world thinks it's fabulous and half thinks it looks awful, they will have done their job superbly.
If everyone thought it was inoffensive and bland it would be gone and forgotten in short order.

I love it, but I certainly get that other people won't like it at all.
Think some people are getting too carried away with the misty-eyed provenance. The wheels look like Halfords specials, while the exterior design is badly out of proportion and looks like one of them Nissan Figaro monstrosities.

I hope you've had a few drinks tonight, because there's not even a slight likeness between those two. Silly.

Why have they not lowered the bonnet line? There's no engine under it. The designers have missed the boat and chosen a shape that could be any front-engined coupeinstead of something distinctive.

Nah. It'll need a supercharger, another 50bhp and to be on sale for £20k.

That's inflation for you! Oh well, at least one would appreciate rather than depreciate. I reckon a quick trip over La Manche would bet you a good 'un cheaper than Car and Classic...

If not, mine's an A310, then....

I think the car looks stunning. Those criticising the wheels must surely realise there are a myriad of other wheels on the market you could choose instead?

We should welcome something different and unusual like this.

you need to go to spec savers very promptly if you think those look similar, like today!

rofl
no no, you see how the wheels fit in the arches? and the lines over the rear mirror each other? and then there's the front lights, and not forgetting the front wings, only the colour differentiates them...!?

no me neither. Some people need a new hobby

Pedestrian safety regs, same reason that nothing else new has a low bonnet?
