Well, I don't know about G31 as they aren't fully released yet - but certainly with the F11, they didn't offer the 550i in the Touring - only the Saloon / GT.
Oh.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...
I do like these big power diesels. Really quite pointless but I'm glad they exist. I had an X6 M50d for a weekend recently and it was a bit of a giggle in terms of straight line shove. Once you get used to that though these are just as uninvolving to drive as any other big diesel saloon, just a lot more expensive.

Huge numbers. But if I had £70k, I could afford a new M5 and requried petrol im sure. Dont even have to compare old vs second hand.
No one will pay £70k though based on BMW's usual discounting strategy....the list price is exactly that a list price, which being BMW people rarely pay full whack.And to be fair chances are the M5 will be in the £80's+ to buy (if based on list), but either way there will be some distance between the two models like happens across the rest of the range.

I will never understand why people who can afford to buy these big engines would bother trying to save money on gas...
It's not about saving gas more than it is about saving time with less need for stopping for refuelling - some people would rather do it as little as possible (I put myself amongst them).Lot's of people on here are worried that something like this will be a nightmare when it is a few years old and with say 80,000 miles of regular use.
What I can't understand is why a car these day's costing say £60,000, should ever break down at all.
A quality product that is well designed and serviced correctly should run way after 200,000 miles without issue.

Yeah, 70 grand cutting edge cars often are, really, jesus ?
It will be epic at what it does, it will be faster in the real world than any of us need, or even want, any speed and a slight whiff of throttle will have you pinned to the seat, would love to see what you drive that would render something like this "st to drive" ?

just personal preference, for example I'd prefer to drive a golf gti pp or something with less power that was petrol. yet to drive a diesel which didn't just feel awful

That's probably when you started looking.
Interesting cars though, the price of that one is ridiculous though, it's been discussed in the BMW section.

quite E60 M5 performance with a 500mile range (min). The old M5 had a range of about 16 miles
Very interesting thread in fact. -> The refill
I never heard about the occurrences at the petrol station. I agree that it is never a nice experience. May be for people who are on the road for the job then it makes sense. Impressive reduction in the number of petrol stations but they have not disappeared as a choice. They disappeared because mpg has improved. Just wait for the electric times and that will be even less.
-> Torque and performance
I agree it is impressive.
-> Sound
Did we mention that? The only time I heard a nice sounding diesel seemed to have been a big engined Cayenne. I just cannot bear the sound of most of them. I hate renting cars in Europe for that reason. May be that is just me.

It'll be Euro 6 compliant, so no worries there for the forseeable future.
I'm not sure that is right, the articles I've seen re Paris, Madrid, Athens etc suggest all diesels will be bannedGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
