I can't believe they let that get signed off, it is f'ing atrocious, another badge engineering exercise at vag.Considering this was the concept, it seems to ended up going from something exciting to another SUV.
or this looks like it is going to kill you

I don't mind Lamborghini creating an SUV. It's a good way to make money at the moment.
I don't however understand the point of a fast SUV. Lavish, luxurious & tasteful like a Range Rover Holland & Holland, sure! Even luxurious and bling like a Bentayga I can understand. But as a driver's tool, they are flawed by their very definition. How often do you really need to accelerate quickly in a SUV unless you are part of Special Service?
I'd rather have a SDV6 FF Range Rover for family duties (or Discovery 4 as they don't make a proper 7-seat RR) and a Huracan/Aventador for having fun.
Whilst this SUV isn't my sort of car, to say "how often do you really need to accelerate quickly in an SUV...." is, in my opinion, a daft comment.I don't however understand the point of a fast SUV. I would expect the answer to actually be exactly the same amount as the same driver would in a fast saloon, or even a sports car. Can't see why this would be any different.
I'm sure the order books will be loaded for this one. Not the type of thing I like, myself.
I remember when the Countach was in production & the VERY rare occasion that I saw one - it would be talked about for days. If I see a Gallardo pass in the opposite direction now, I don't even bother to look in the mirror to check it out. Once these Urus's are plentiful on the road, I'm sure the same will apply, which is a shame, as Lamborghini certainly isn't as exclusive & special as it once was.

You could say the same for any successful manufacturer though, a new 911 Turbo in the 1980's was a much bigger deal than it is now. The sheer volume of these types of cars produced today plus the many ways you can finance/lease/buy one has killed passed exclusivity. I think this Lambo will do really well.

The latter usually ends up funding the former
Works for Porsche, sell the SUV and diesel tat to to the suckers, use the vast profits they make to build proper sports cars, rinse and repeat. i'm sure i read the profit margin on suvs is around 80% percent after options. i think a mainstream car is around 2-5% at best.

I quite like it, but that read door handle cannot be unseen now its been pointed out, I bet it is truly epic though, 3.4 sec to sixty in a big lump like that.

how on earth do you work that out?
they make 20% across the whole range, suvs are the cash cow. once you add options i wouldn't be surprised some of the cayenne offer very high profit margins.i remember that statistics from 2013, SUV sales made around 60% of total sales.
''In 2013 Porsche accounted for just 1.7% of VW Group's total sales, but it generated 22% of the company's pre-tax profits''
I'm a details man and cannot understand why they did not at least give it flush door handles. It is this lack of design cohesiveness/parts bin special that gives it the whiff of badge engineering. This is always more pronounced with the premium brands hailing from within the VW empire than say with BMW with RR or even MINI. With the exception of Bugatti of course.
