Can you give a cost breakdown?
Proper maths, not man maths please! :P
6 years since cambelt was done, so due according to schedule that needs doing this year.Proper maths, not man maths please! :P
Cambelt/aux belt and tensioner is £840 service according to Volvo
Wishbone and alignment £280 (£220 part plus labour)
2 Front tyres £250 for branded tyres id trust
twice in the last 3 months its thrown a warning light which has needed to be reset, thermostat has then been open so no heating and local specialist recommended replacing the temperature sensor and thermostat if it happens again, didnt know price of parts from volvo.
Ignoring the possibles, there is £1370
I could probably get that down to £1000 by using the independent specialist for the service rather than main dealer but still a lot of money.
10k miles per year at 33mpg ~£1600
10k miles per year at a cautious 50mpg ~£1000
£1370
£1200 - Monthly finance saving over next year
£280 - tax saving over next year
£600 - fuel savings
£3450
enough to convince me but everyone sees things differently
Looks like a good shout for an estate under a grand. Nice photos, too.

Sometimes I look at this thread and wish my car didn't work fine so I'd have an excuse to try some of the sheds here. That Volvo looks very smart for the price, even if it's not exciting in any way
Trust me, the reality isn't that great. Spend days trawling through horrible adverts of horrible cars, then finally trek out to see one and it's a dog ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

I disagree, I've liked the last couple I bought this way. I don't expect an immaculate car for this price and I'm not bothered about one with marks![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

Marks is fine, undeclared Cat D write offs without a straight panel and alloys that look like they've spent twenty years in the north sea, less fine. Advert photos must have been years old. Integroo said:

I know of a dealer that would frequently post a picture of just one of the alloys (along with the rest of the car of course). When you get there, it looks a though the spare wheel has been fitted for effect, and the remaining three are as rough as a Badgers arse.I'm sure there are many other tricks lol.

I just don't understand what a seller expects. That I turn up, it's a dog, but hand over the money anyway as I cba leaving empty handed?
Probably just that TBH.Perhaps they think because you've made the effort - that you'll just say "oh what the hell" and buy it anyway.
I made that mistake when I bought my BMW (and I had travelled 80 miles for it...)
Quite like the idea of this mk1 Mondeo for 500 quid. Seems an honest car.

Wait till the weekend and if it's still there offer them scrap price and take it off their hands. If it lasts a couple months, you're grand. At least if it breaks down you'll have the heating and stereo on while you wait for the AA man.Check out their ad for the V70 too, written in a similar vein.
